Jewelry has served a plethora of purposes throughout the history of the world. It has been used to notate someone’s status, show one’s relation to an organization or sect, to just plain look pretty, or, of course, to be worn to set a barrier of protection.  The things around us in this life can help motivate our intentions, and wearing protective jewelry is a great example of this. Going back centuries, different cultures have all had different jewelry pieces that they’ve worn as a way to protect themselves from negative energy being directed their way or from bad spirits. From crystals to the evil eye pendants to ankhs, we’re going to discuss the most popular pieces of spiritual jewelry and what exactly they symbolize.

An Evil Eye Amulet

The Evil Eye, or the Eye of Mashallah, is generally depicted in amulet form and worn as a bracelet, necklace, or even a keychain. It is now and has been believed for centuries to invoke the protection of ‘God’, protecting people from negativity, disease, and bad omens. What’s uniquely special about the evil eye is that it spans across many cultures and civilizations in one form or another, and it is still used regularly today. Something else that makes the evil eye so popular (and one of our favorite pieces) is how chic and easy it is to wear, too. The piece stands out enough to look stunning and make a statement but can also be subtle enough to wear with any look.

If you’re looking to try out the benefits of these colorful pieces, then go ahead and learn how you should wear a bracelet with an evil eye amulet. After all, tradition dictates wearing your Evil Eye pendant differently depending upon your intention and what exactly you need protection against. So, it’s important to understand if there is something specific you’d like to protect against and, if so, understand the right way to wear your evil eye.

Rose Quartz Pendant

I’d be shocked if you haven’t heard of crystal pendants at this point. With countless spiritual bookstores and metaphysical shops popping up around left and right, crystal work is becoming extremely popular. Using crystals as a way to set an intention and focus your energy onto that intention has been around for years, and its popularity is only increasing. While we could spend all day talking about different types of crystal pendants and what they mean, I’d like to talk about my personal favorite- the rose quartz pendant. Rose quartzes are regularly used with the intention of healing and purifying. So, when one is feeling ill, a rose quartz can be meditated with to help with feeling better. It’s also been well known to purify and boost your feelings of self-love! So, if you’re in need of a mental cleansing, so to speak, the rose quartz pendant is perfect for that. It’s a great way to open up your heart and cleanse your spirit with white light, love, and happiness.

Ankh

Ankhs generally reflect more of the past, so most people wearing them today are doing it as a nod to the Ancient Egyptian society more-so than they are for the benefits of any form or protection or intention. But they are still a very cool, popular piece of jewelry that used to have very strong spiritual meanings to the Egyptian culture. The ankh was the ancient symbol that was representative of eternal life. It also represented the elements of water, air, and the sun, which were the key components to allow life to thrive. So, its symbolization is really rooted into the overall idea of “life” which is a great, positive message to convey. However, in the 90s ankhs were worn a lot as a part of grunge fashion. And today, many popular artists sport it without understanding its meaning. Regardless, it’s a great nod at celebrating life and paying homage to a great ancient civilization.

All in all, these are some of our favorite pendants to wear that are all deeply rooted with a spiritual meaning. So, when picking out your jewelry going forward, carefully think about what intentions you are focusing on throughout the day and pick the jewelry that will match it best for prime results while living your life.
