A beautiful smile can get you a long way. Who, at least once, did not dream of having a brilliant smile blinding the surroundings with its aura?

The first shown records suggest that people in ancient Egypt, even 4000 years ago, made mixtures from different herbs and vinegar to whiten their teeth, meaning the obsession is not unique to us.

White teeth have always been associated with health, beauty, wealth, and good hygiene. Nowadays, we know that some people have a tougher teeth glaze than others, meaning their teeth are a bit yellow while others have naturally a shining smile. No worries, there are ways and tips to make your smile outshine Hollywood.

Natural remedies

Natural solutions are still a favorite among people and have been around for millennia. Now, not all remedies work and some are more urban myths and legends, yet those you have proven themselves worthy are still used. One tip is using oil. Olive oil, sunflower, or coconut oil- whatever you go for you will not make a mistake. The method is easy: try to move a tablespoon of oil around your mouth for about half an hour and repeat this two to three times per day.

This technique has been practiced in parts of the Indian subcontinent, meaning Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India. We do not know how it helps teeth, yet people are more than satisfied with the results.

Kitchen utilities

No, not spoons and knives but rather something you probably have laying around in your fridge, baking soda, and vinegar. Of course, do not mix these two, rather try separate techniques. As mentioned previously, vinegar has been used since the ancient Egyptians and baking soda became a staple of most commercials. Vinegar has a natural level of acidity removing stains and tooth enamel. Yet, be careful as it can harm the surrounding tissue.

Baking soda functions as a kind of paste. It kills the bacteria in your mouth and because of its polishing texture, removes the yellow surface of teeth. Some suggest mixing it with hydrogen peroxide or adding a bit of it to your toothpaste. But be careful, do not rub too hard, and make sure to cleanse your mouth afterward as it can also damage the surrounding tissue if used improperly.

Over-the-counter products

One effective way to be a step closer to your dream smile is by trying some of the many products available. Unlike anything mentioned before, most of the products have already been tested and approved so you do not have to worry about misusing them and damaging your mouth and teeth. You could try charcoal toothpaste for teeth whitening for starters, as it comes with a slight coconut aroma and feels more familiar. It comes at an affordable price, and not only whitens your teeth but also keeps them safe by removing bacteria and reducing plaque. Or you could try the DIY whitening kit coming at a certain price yet proven to be highly effective. You get all the needed products, like whitening gel and even LED light.

Whatever you choose you won’t make a mistake, as these are highly effective and most of all safe and approved.

Going to the dentist

Now, this seems more than obvious and yet has its advantages. If you have tried many previously mentioned methods and none have proven successful, maybe going to the dentist should be your next destination. For starters, it is safer though it costs more. You’ll have a professional take care of you, and in cases where people have cavities, whitening might not be a great idea. Even without any cavities, for some with a tougher glaze, these products might not prove effective enough.

Change of lifestyle

One way to work on a beautiful smile and white teeth is to change your diet and lifestyle. We are what we eat, therefore consuming a lot of colored beverages, coffee and sweets reduce our chances of having a perfect smile. Cut down on alcohol, coffee, and other sweet drinks and instead have more veggies and fruits, water, and lemonade. You’ll see slight changes in the first week or two.

Do not throw away the peels

One last piece of advice is trying to use banana, orange, or lemon peel to whiten your teeth. The natural nutrients and acidity of the peel can work wonders. You rub it in and let it stay for a while, then of course wash your mouth. It will not be an instant success but give it some time and you will not regret it.

We should mention that oral hygiene must be on a desirable level, otherwise all these remedies won’t work for a long time. Regularly wash your teeth, use some cleansing water, and from time to time maybe some natural charcoal or baking soda toothpaste. And do not be fooled, most celebrities wear porcelain prosthetics.
