When Barcelona-based sisters Yolanda and Cristina Perez founded YolanCris back in 2005, they probably did not know YolanCris would become such an authority for the bridal industry. Now that their YolandCris fall 2017 bridal collection has been finally unveiled, we can fairly state they will probably never lower our expectations.
With October being the Bridal Fashion Week’s official month, the YolanCris runway show is always one of the long-awaited, as the sisters’ omnipresent boho-chic style always charms us with perfectly tailored organza gowns and exquisitely embroidered flowers.
This time around, for their YolanCris fall 2017 bridal collection, sisters Yolanda and Cristina Perez mixed their signature boho vibes with more visionary, avant-garde aesthetics, treating the future spouses to an imposing 23-piece collection that was just haute couture at its purest.
Although undeniably elegant, the YolanCris fall/winter 2017 bridal lineup was not what we may consider as aesthetically traditional, as either whimsical embellishments such as shell-like effects, or super intricate silhouettes that combined futurism with Victorian age-inspired figures, refined the staples. The collection shared a common theme too, which appeared to be specifically Victorian countryside inspired.
From the color palette to the bridal bouquets, the YolanCris fall 2017 bridal runway show featured appealing corn-inspired motifs, which inevitably infused the entire lineup with dreamlike golden touches of an otherworldly atmosphere.
Most of the proposals got dipped into a sort of ochre, off-yellow hue, which veered to pure gold as soon as the show drew to a close. To reinforce the fairytale like, country-inspired mood, Yolanda and Cristina Perez adorned the closing staples with luxurious golden leaves, the delicacy of which hugged the bodies enhancing their figures.
The Victorian retro-futurist theme was also examined through silvery puffed-up sleeves, bustier-like tops and, of course, ultra voluminous gowns in tulle and organza, which probably traced the sisters back to their childhood, when they were literally surrounded by organza and tulle wedding dresses (their mother was a pioneer in the bridal business).
Here geometrical figures, scalloped hems and tactic cut-outs got alternated with more relaxed, slouchy figures, creating an appealing contrast that will work perfectly with basically any kind of figure. Asymmetrical gowns and a multitude of fringed and organza layers interrupted each other to give a more dynamic approach to the bridal dress, serving as the perfect staple whether we prefer unconventional, midi length frocks, or most grandiose, if not almost fluffy silhouettes.
The YolanCris fall 2017 bridal collection also included more traditionally boho-chic wedding dresses. Off-the-shoulder necklines, beaded decorations and delicate floral embroideries were, of course, included in the collection too, leaving those who like Yolanda and Cristina Perez’s signature styles something to long for and to add to their dream wedding wish lists.
