The new Loewe The Cruz bag collection for fall 2013 brings a luxe cross-body bag with outer pockets, which comes in a variety of hues alongside matching purses and zip wallets. Designed to satisfy the style needs of on-the-go women, the new Loewe bag will go for sale in the brand’s international stores on November 1, 2013.
“We wanted to do something special but also practical, and we wanted the design to have an unmistakable Spanish element,’ Penélope Cruz told WWD.
M‚Äö√†√∂‚Äö√¢‚Ä¢nica Cruz added: “We wanted a bag that would be useful for women who need to carry many things and have them all to hand at the same time.’
No wonder, the tastes of the stylish sisters match a lot, as we see and as Penélope states: “We usually like the same things. When we do the design meetings separately, we tend to choose the same materials and colors.’
Actually, The Cruz collection isn’t the first designer deal of the sisters, since they created a capsule line of Mango back in 2007, as well as have released a lingerie collection for Agent Provocateur. This is the first ad campaign featuring the renowned actress, who will continue representing the brand for three successive years.
Penélope seems to be extremely proud to be the brand ambassador for Loewe, as she commented: “It’s a really, really Spanish brand. It has always taken inspiration from the Spanish tradition, Spanish culture and Spanish history. I’m really proud to be working with a brand where everything’s done here and almost everybody is Spanish.’

The 38-year-old Hollywood actress has signed a three-year contract with the brand and will appear in the Loewe spring/summer 2013 campaign, photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Talking about their new choice, Loewe’s CEO, Lisa Montague, said: “Penélope Cruz is the perfect ambassador for Loewe. [She] represents our values of passion, authenticity and excellence. Working with an Oscar-winning actress with international recognition will be impactful. I see it as a major step forward.” She then added: “It was specifically Penélope we wanted, rather than working with a celebrity.”
Moreover, according to Stuart Vevers, the creative director of the brand said that his creations were inspired by Penélope’s beauty. “Penélope is Spain’s most famous woman. For us to collaborate feels right and natural,” the British-born designer says. “Penélope’s strong, sensual beauty has long been an inspiration for me as a designer. She’s been a constant reference for my ideal of Spanish womanhood since I came to Loewe.”
Penélope also feels happy about her new gig, as she said: “Loewe is an international brand proud of its Spanish roots and with a rich history. Its collections are made by Spanish master artisans and I have always admired their work. I feel fortunate to be a part of this project.”
Previously, Penélope has also appeared in the ad campaigns for L’Oréal, Mango, Ralph Lauren, and Lanc‚Äö√†√∂¬¨‚Ä¢me.
