For the Carolina Herrera fall 2016 ad campaign, the house tapped not only models of the moment Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge as the campaign’s brand ambassadors, but also little white kittens that are too cute to handle.
Lensed by legendary fashion photographer Mario Testino, who has been busy capturing many fall 2016 ad campaigns this year, the pictures feature male model Garrett Neff too, who will be part of Carolina Herrera’s new digital revolution as well.
Following in the footsteps of many other fashion houses, Carolina Herrera has been renovating itself for a few months now, ever since Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia were appointed as the label’s newest creative directors back in February 2016.
For the first time in Carolina Herrera’s history, the campaign will in fact be launched on digital platforms, starting off (of course) with Instagram. Both Lily Aldridge and Karlie Kloss can count on an impressive amount of followers on their accounts (all together they share more than 9 millions followers), not to mention Mario Testino’s.
Such a marketing strategy comes just in time to celebrate Carolina Herrera’s new enterprise: the launch of the CH Carolina Herrera e-commerce website in October. By putting kittens in the It-item Duke Bag, and by asking Aldridge and Kloss to join the squad and channel some of the collection’s must-have staples, we can fairly state those at Carolina Herrera’s headquarters perfectly captured the whole ‘famous in the Internet’ thing, and we expect the pictures to go quickly viral, for sure.
As of now, we can only count on a few sneak peeks of the campaign, which feature the models showing off the aforementioned Duke bag, a fiery red rounded-neck dress with peplum hems, and what appears to be a black laced dress paired with a sophisticated vivid green scarf. Garrett Neff is also in tune with the campaign’s cuteness, and is shown wearing a navy blue sweater with polka dots.
Known for its feminine silhouettes and delicate, soigné patterns (Carolina Herrera herself is considered to be one of the world’s most sophisticated women), the American Maison proves once again to be perfectly able to elegantly keeping up with the modern world, and we can’t help being extremely curious to see how it is going to mix its renowned legacy with the world’s newest Internet phenomenon.

With a reported 685-hour work and over 6,500 gems used as embellishments, the newest Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra 2015, named Fireworks Fantasy Bra, is said to be worth a whopping $2 million. Its unveiling took place on November 2 and, as usual, everyone is looking forward to seeing it at the forthcoming Victoria’s Secret 2015 Fashion Show, when Angel Lily Aldridge will walk the runway wearing it.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is one of the most awaited events of the year, and has so far featured many different Angels wearing the Fantasy Bra, from Adriana Lima to Claudia Schiffer, Miranda Kerr and Gisele Bundchen. For this 2015 show, it is the 29-year-old model Lily Aldridge, who is going to follow in her predecessors’ footsteps. Although she just shared the big news on her Instagram account earlier this week, she actually had found out she would be modeling the famous bra back in July (it takes some time to build such a bra around a single individual), but couldn’t tell anyone but her husband (the Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill) until Monday.
It is indeed a great opportunity for the veteran Angel, who has been walking for the show since 2010. However, such big news in not the only thing Aldridge is excited about. Besides hitting the runway with her angel wings and the Fireworks Fantasy Bra at the upcoming Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show, Lily Aldridge will be sharing the runway with one of her closest friends ” Gigi Hadid. Both girls are part of the so-called Taylor Swift squad, although for the first time in a few years Swift herself won’t be coming onstage.
Lily Aldridge is thus about to make her way down the runway with an impressive bra, the inspiration for which directly came from the fireworks. Each one of the 6,500 gemstones has cautiously been encrusted to resemble a real firework on the model’s body, coming complemented with a glittery belt wrapped around Aldridge’s low waist. It was the four-generation jewelry brand Mouawad that took the responsibility of designing and then creating the Victoria’s Secret Fireworks Fantasy Bra, using 14 different types of gemstones (blue topaz and yellow sapphire included), 375 carats of diamonds and 18K of gold.
Founded in 1890, Mouawad perfectly embraces Victoria’s Secret’s philosophy, thanks to its jocose yet plush signature style. Mouawad’s artists, who have so far been designing Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bras since 2001, are used to such a hard work, and it is actually not the first time they manage to put together such a masterpiece. Last year’s Fantasy Bras took actually nearly 1,380 hours of labor, featuring a similar array of rubies, diamonds and gemstones, all strung together with 18K gold to be completed.
LA-based Lily Aldridge is now literally having a crackling career, and she recently shared her excitement with PeopleStyle saying: “I’m not scared, I’m super excited and I’m anxious to just get on the runway and wear it and be in that moment. Some of the girls who have worn it in the past are just like, ‘Enjoy every moment of it.’ It’s such a special experience and I’m really excited.’ She may have had to wait almost 6 years to achieve such a success, but her efforts really prove us that good things do come for those who wait.
