Hermes Spring/Summer 2016 Collection – Paris Fashion Week
The first thing we notice in the Hermes spring/summer 2016 collection newly presented on the Paris Fashion Week is the shoes. My gosh those are pretty and who doesn’t want gorgeous black shoes to match with the little black dresses in the closets we’ve got? Ankle strapped shoes, now those are even lovelier, particularly the more open and delicately feminine designs.
The show opened with black, which was an interesting choice but it did not stay there. It brought in white tartan with the thinnest of lines passing through, a print that appears on skirts, dresses, two-piece sets and more. It brought in white with silver designs and moved on to cobalt blue, even throwing in a side slit dress that resembled something Greek. Add mustard yellow, red and orange, sandy nudes and earthen clay before ending in white and you have the Hermes collection covered top to bottom.
This is a collection that is plainer in the way it is presented but no less attractive. It is utilitarian, perfect to wear every day and even to pull out on a date. Clean lines were the focus here, along with rather crisply cut edges and geometrically done up color blocked prints. We saw everything from a slim calfskin dress, bringing in materials not normally seen on the runways these days, to pleated and embroidered silk skirts, a common theme on the spring runway. We positively adored the white sleeveless jumpsuit with the red torchon striping down the sides.
The pieces were exquisite. Simple, clean and positively exquisite. It was what would be expected from designer Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski really as the garments never seemed to go wrong. There was nary a piece out of place. And that is exactly how we love them. It was all about the polish and the whole Hermes spring 2016 line-up screamed old money and new desires. It is for the woman who knows how to work hard and play hard. It is for the lady who is mature, who loves to present herself as a sleek cat ready to pounce on a deal. Making money? It is second nature to her. Yes, this is the collection for the woman who is comfortable in her wealth and knows how to make her investments, on and off the tennis court. Sleek sophistication is the motto of the Hermes woman and she wears it like a second skin.
The reins to the House are held onto tightly by the designer. Hermes has been expanding its operations of late in terms of its perfumerie in New York and the whole seasonal collection bit is only a small part of its operations it appears. What we see though, we are absolutely in love with and cannot wait to add to our professional workwear from this particular line-up. It is simply too divine.
Polished looks are finished off with sneakers here and there to add to the “I’m too cool for myself” look that seems to be portrayed, while an Apple iWatch encircles a few wrists to show off how lovely such a combination of brands can be.
