MTV VMAs 2015 Red Carpet Fashion
The much-anticipated event in the music industry, MTV Video Music Awards 2015 took place in Los Angeles, California, Sunday night bringing all the glitz and glam to the red carpet. While we were pretty excited to watch the bight performances of our favorite stars and see many of them take home new awards with Taylor Swift as always topping the charts, no wonder we were all eyes on the glamorous, extravagant and sometimes even shocking outfits the celebrities rocked on the red carpet. As expected, the MTV VMAs 2015 red carpet fashion was one-of-a-kind and rule-breaking, but also diverse and inspiring: from big doses of transparencies, feathers and lots of skin flashed to much more toned down outfits, each look unveiled showed the character of the artist and her unique way of the perception of fashion style. Of course, we instantly fell for the picture-perfect look of Taylor Swift, but we also discovered quite weird, almost naked looks, when certain stars like Miley Cyrus decided not to wear anything at all, preferring “accessories” to clothing pieces and embellishing their bodies with edgy harness belts and chandelier crystals. Let’s see the most vibrant looks from the night below, both the best and worst outfits that the starlets could ever don.
1. Gigi Hadid’s Yellow Ensemble
Gigi Hadid was definitely one of the few best dressed celebrities at the MTV VMAs 2015, channeling a high dose of elegance and femininity while making an appearance in a head-to-toe yellow mellow Emilia Wickstead piece that could be called a hybrid of an elegant and demure dress and a sexy bodysuit. She flashed her leggy legs through the sky-high front slit and perfected her look with a pair of golden strappy sandals and sophisticated gold jewelry pieces. Gigi was definitely one of the most beautiful celebs on the red carpet yesterday night, looking absolutely radiant with her glowing sun-kissed skin, the nude makeup and the perfectly slicked back straight hair.
2. Karlie Kloss’ Effortless Chic Dress With Flats
If there is one person, who always slays on the red carpet, it’s definitely Karlie Kloss. She’s a ray of sunshine, one of the most stylish and coolest supermodels, who look their best in much toned down and effortless looks, but also when wearing glam-chic and elegant designer pieces. Yesterday night, she gave preference to what can be called when elegance meets an effortless style, hitting the red carpet in a minimalist and monochrome Louis Vuitton orange dress finished off with a pair of flat metallic sandals. Glowing skin with little to no makeup on and soft wavy hair added to the superbness of Karlie’s look.
3. Taylor Swift’s ‘80s-Inspired Two-Piece
The queen of crop tops and excellent matchy-matchy outfits embraced the decade of the ‘80s at the VMAs wearing a houndtooth-patterned glittering crop top from Ashish with matching pants. A pair of metallic pointy-toe heels and minimalist jewelry pieces spiced up her look, while the bold cat-eye makeup boosted the edginess of her overall outfit. In terms of her hairstyle choice, Taylor went more effortless and minimalist gathering her blonde hair into a low ponytail with a deep side part.
4. Cara Delevingne’s Star-Studded Mini Dress
Supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne looked spectacular at the VMAs in a star-patterned fringed black mini dress from Saint Laurent, styled with a pair of classic black strappy heels and long side-swept textured hair. This is one of the cases when less is more, as Cara was definitely one of the most stylish celebs on the red carpet yesterday both fashion and beauty wise. Her makeup choice concentrated on sexy smokey eyes in brown tones and an overall nude look.
5. Martha Hunt’s Glittering Mini Dress
Another supermodel that rocked the red carpet at the MTV VMAs 2015 was Martha Hunt, who put the focus on her flawless legs wearing a sparkling sequined black mini dress from Chakra Couture with sheer inserts on the sleeves and a wait-enhancing silver belt. Add a pair of lace-up Stuart Weitzman black sandals, center-part beachy waves and classic nude makeup to the look and you’re going to be the little shining star at the party!
6. Vanessa Hudgens’s Boho-Chic Outfit
While most of the stars went either glam or edgy at the VMAs, Vanessa Hudgens decided to break the mold and channel her inner boho goddess wearing a Naeem Khan dusty pink maxi dress with a deep V-neck and a V-back, as well as pretty 3D floral appliqués. Lots of bracelets, long necklaces and the loose and long bohemian half-up half-down hairstyle only enhanced the hippie flair of her look, turning her into a forest fairy.
7. Rita Ora’s Feathered Black Gown
Rita Ora flashed lots of skin while wearing a black gown from Vera Wang with a V-neck, cut-out bodice and a feathered full skirt featuring a high slit. She decided to accessorize her edgy look with black lace-up heeled sandals, black manicure and bold black smokey eye makeup, while her blonde hair was gathered into a sleek low updo.
8. Kim Kardashian’s ‘70s Balmain Look
Pregnant Kim Kardashian couldn’t but accompany her husband Kanye West on the red carpet, who announced his plans on 2020 presidential run at the VMAs totally shocking the audience. This time, Kim ditched her overly glam looks instead opting for a ‘70s-inspired safari-style lace-up Givenchy dress with a front slit and slightly squared shoulders. She also accessorized her look with metallic heeled sandals and wet-effect backcombed sleek hair, while staying true to her iconic contoured makeup style.
9. Nicki Minaj’s Golden Naked Dress
The naked dress craze among the celebrities continues and Nicki Minaj is definitely one of the devoted advocates of the trend. She showed off her curvy figure and lots of skin on the red carpet donning a Labourjoisie gold dress embellished with sequins, transparencies and a low-cut neckline. Pointy-toe metallic heels and golden jewelry pieces were the accessories she chose to add to her look, while beauty wise she stuck to her favorite bold cat eye makeup style and glossy jet-black hair.
10. Miley Cyrus’ Wearable Chandelier
If there was one person that broke the Internet with her look at the MTV VMAs 2015, it was definitely Miley Cyrus. She was the host of the event, but also the person, who brought more outfit changes than anybody else, each one being even more dramatic and bizarre than the previous look. What was especially shocking was the custom Versace dress she wore to arrive at the red carpet, something composed of silver straps and a chandelier-embellished skirt that hardly concealed anything. Metallic silver thigh-high Versace platform boots, red lipstick, blue eye makeup and a high ponytail finished off her look instantly landing her in the spotlight.
