Cannes 2016 amfAR Gala Red Carpet Fashion
The amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala is always the highlight at the annual Cannes Film Festival, and it never fails to stun us every year with the jaw-dropping designer dresses and beauty choices of the A-list catwalk and screen stars, while at the same time raising awareness and funds for such an important cause. Last night’s amfAR Gala was held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Cannes and it brought together such names as Karlie Kloss, Katy Perry and Rosie Huntington-Whitely, among others, who strutted down the red carpet looking like heavenly creatures dressed in equally bedazzling gowns. Below, we have rounded up the most elegant and best dressed celebrities from the Cannes 2016 amfAR Gala, who turned the red carpet into a real catwalk.
1. Karlie Kloss in Marchesa
Leggy stunner Karlie Kloss was perhaps the best dressed at the Gala yesterday night, looking modern, chic, elegant and simply drop-dead gorgeous in a black Marchesa gown with a thigh-high side slit and a darling off-the-shoulder neckline embellished with flower-petals-resembling decorations. Her towering platform sandals added extra inches to her height, while precious jewelry injected the right amount of glitz and glamour to her monochrome look. She preferred to style her look with classic makeup that placed the accent on her dewy complexion and the glossy red lips, while her hair was gathered into a sleek center-parted chignon.
2. Jessica Hart in Miu Miu
Australian model Jessica Hart was the urban mermaid of the ball, showing her perfect physique in a pretty champagne Miu Miu gown adorned with patterns emulating fish scales, a deep plunging neckline and a mermaid tail. She finished off her look with a metallic golden minaudière and an eye-feasting necklace dressing her cleavage. Au naturel makeup and center-parted beachy waves were right on point.
3. Lily Donaldson in Miu Miu
Miu Miu was also the choice of another model-stunner, Lily Donaldson, who was definitely a favorite of the night with her red-carpet look (at least for me). Her red sequined gown featured crystal straps and side cut-outs, also baring her flawless back, while her beauty look was equally sizzling, composed of the perfect red pout, glowing skin and side-parted sleek hair.
4. Natasha Poly in Roberto Cavalli
The Cannes 2016 amfAR Gala was like a model-studded runway show, where our favorite supermodels had the privilege of wearing their favorite designer dresses, each bearing a certain personality peculiar of the wearer. Natasha Poly radiated big doses of sensuality and drama donning a see-through black lace Roberto Cavalli dress with bell sleeves and snake patterns. The dress was bold enough to go devoid of any accessories, still managing to take everyone’s breath away, so naturally Poly accessorized her look with just a pair of metallic strappy sandals, a diamond ring and red lips, keeping her hair in tousled beachy waves.
5. Katy Perry in Marchesa
Apparently, Marchesa was a favorite designer at the event, as many models and screen stars opted for exactly this designer for their red-carpet looks. Katy Perry was the blooming rose of the night, hitting the red carpet in a true red petal-adorned lace dress from Marchesa’s fall 2016 collection with a boat neckline and eclectic flower-embellished sleeves. Diamond drop earrings, red lips and a center-parted sleek chignon took her elegant look to a whole new level.
6. Alessandra Ambrosio in Redemption
Along with red, black was also a winning color at the red carpet, and one of the stars that looked best in this traditional, minimalist color was Alessandra Ambrosio. Her Redemption dress featured subtle transparency accents, a thigh-high side slit, a deep V-neckline and touches of sequins, looking especially fabulous when styled with the precious bracelet, chunky ring and necklace that sparkled with full shine on the background of the monochrome dress. Alessandra’s beauty was enhanced with the sexy smokey eyes and laid-back tousled waves.
7. Heidi Klum in Versace
High slits and showing off lots of cleavage were apparently trending at the Cannes 2016 amfAR Gala red carpet, and Heidi Klum nailed the trend perfectly. She wore a monochrome pastel yellow Versace gown that she preferred to accessorize with silver strappy sandals and turquoise jewels. A sleek backcombed chignon and smokey eyes looked in a perfect harmony with her sexy gown.
8. Jourdan Dunn in Dsquared2
Jourdan Dunn’s dress is the perfect statement of elegance and uniqueness in the simplicity of colors. Her Dsquared2 dress was in monochrome black, yet looked so eclectic and exciting thanks to the asymmetrical one-sleeve decorated with billowing ruffles and a side slit. Lace-up sandals, a shimmering bracelet and center-parted straight hair completed her fabulous red-carpet look to perfection.
9. Ulyana Sergeenko in Ulyana Sergeenko Couture
Ulyana Sergeenko channeled her Russian grace and elegance wearing her own design, a powdery pink dress with tons of ruffles and a strapless neckline. Her dramatically short hair radiated a certain flapper allure, while her makeup choice was delicate pink lips and her signature cat eyes.
10. Bella Hadid in Dior
After wearing a very daring and revealing red dress at the festival, Bella decided to go demure and classy at the amfAR 2016 Gala wearing a black Dior dress, accessorized with colorful jewels. Her makeup was kept natural, while her hair was styled in a half up, half down sleek ‘do that was in tone with her minimalist red-carpet look.
11. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Galvan
Rosie decided to stand out in the crowd wearing a custom metallic silver Galvan dress, perfectly hugging her toned body and putting the accent on her cleavage. The accompanying chandelier earrings, diamond bracelet and sparkling minaudière boosted the glamour in her look, while her beauty was all about center-parted sleek hair and earthy smokey eyes.
