Staying Neutral

Summer is on it’s way out soon and fall is going to start making an appearance. How do you balance the lingering heat with fall style? Simple, just stay neutral. Neutral colors such as beige, nude, taupe, camel, and even gold, are colors that just about anyone can wear and also appropriate for just about any season, but especially the fall months. I wore this linen-blend two piece set with taupe stripes while roaming around the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica Recently. Having lunch, coffee, shopping, and it got so many compliments. I paired it with my new Chloe bag that I had been eyeing for some time, and some super comfy platform heels. I have actually never worn this color much in the past, but during my hunt for more pieces, I found some cool ones that you can shop as well to keep your summer to fall style transition seamless.

Resort Wear Guide

Planning a last minute tropical getaway before summer’s end? Not sure what to pack? Allow me to help. I am planning an end of summer trip to Mexico, and naturally I am planning out my wardrobe for the trip, starting with my resort wear. So, I figure why not make a few wardrobe recommendations for you also. A coverup, caftan, or sarong just does not cut it when hanging around luxe resort towns. You’re going to want something with a bit more “snazz” for the oceanside dinners at sunset, and post dinner margaritas and dancing. Straw hats have made quite the appearance this summer, and are a must for any tropical environment. Why not protect your skin while looking stylish? Pair that up with the equally popular polka dot or floral print wrap or sarong style skirt, and statement blouse- preferably off the shoulder, and you are ready to enjoy the vacation perks of the resort life!

The Better For You Caffeine Guidelines

Can-CBD-Vape-Juice-Lead-to-a-Happier-Life-main-image

As children we could not wait to be adults, now that we are adults we realize how much we took for granted as children, like nap time. Many of us working the nine to five would give a right arm to have a mandatory nap time, right? But we don’t get that, so we opt for our more mature alternative… caffeine. By Friday I am 3 caffeinated drinks deep. My morning coffee, afternoon tea, and if there are Friday night plans, there is a Starbucks stop on the way home from work. I know people who drink coffee literally all day long. I don’t understand how they don’t have the jitters, crashes, ulcers, and kidney pain. Caffeine has some great perks as well, but it’s good to balance your intake with a variety of caffeinated products. The Mayo Clinic suggests that a healthy amount of caffeine for an adult is no more than 400mg daily, which averages to about 4 cups of coffee. Besides the antioxidant and anti-aging benefits in coffee, research shows that caffeine can help prevent Alzheimers, Parkinson’s disease, and some cancers such an mouth, throat, and skin just to name a few. It also decreases the risk of two types of diabetes, can reduce risk of stroke by 22%, and improves heart health. So what’s not to love about caffeine? Very few things in comparison, I think. Below you can read about and shop some of my favorite caffeinated products I rely on to get me through the day! Remember the one rule of thumb is to never have caffeine after 5 pm, or 6 hours before you plan to hit the hay.

Western Romance

Pretty and romantic looks are in. Light and flowy fabrics, feminine ruffles, floral embroidery and prints are more popular now than ever. I feel as if a lot of the styles I am seeing are reminiscent of the Gunne Sax day’s back in the 70’s. The pieces were something like a combination of a boho prairie girl. They key is to add some modern touches to the outfit to make it a bit more modern and stylish while keeping the vintage vibe. In my look I paired this airy cotton jumpsuit from Free People that has that boho prairie girl vibe and combined it with an oversized hat by Nick Fouquet, a metal handbag by From St. Xavier, and since I really wanted to add a Gypsy touch to this I went heavy on the jewelry, mixing some newer pieces like the bangles and earrings with some of my favorite vintage pieces like the rings and the one large bangle. Having pieces that are airy like this jumpsuit for the summertime heat is so important. Cotton’s and chiffons allow you to feel cooler while looking great. Browse below to shop my look or make it your own with some similar pieces that may be better suited for your taste or budget!

Swimwear For Every Budget

Here we are in the middle of summer and our schedules are filling up with all kinds of fun activities, many involving swimwear. It’s easy to fall into the habit of “oh I’ll just wear last year’s suit” year after year. That’s ok to do occasionally, but why not wear something impressive? Luckily, a cute suit these days does not have to break the bank. Some of my least expensive suits have gotten the most compliments. So if you feel like it’s time to refresh your swimwear, check out some of my favorites for every budget.

Lamé Babe

I am such a sucker for lamé. I have sound myself spending hours at a time on Etsy browsing through page after page of vintage pieces to find the perfect ones. Some of the best pieces are vintage, and if you’re in luck, they are still in good shape. Luckily, it has been a more popular sight in the modern fashion world and Missoni has put out some pretty lust-worthy pieces. I took my selected Missoni knit lamé skirt and went the 70’s route (duh), pairing it with a metallic, dramatic, bell sleeved bodysuit, metallic fuchsia boots, and some oversized round sunnies. You can create this look for yourself with the same pieces, and of course some variations. Shop below!

Your New Favorite Hair Mask Is Here

Look no more damaged hair sufferers, your new favorite (miracle) hair mask is here! I recently tried Coco & Eve’s super nourishing coconut & fig hair mask to see what the hype was all about. Now I know. I knew about 30 seconds into the application that this was going to be praise-worthy. I immediately felt a difference in my strands, and once it was dry, I could not stop running my fingers through it because it felt so silky soft. As someone who has always struggled with dry hair, then due to the damage from being a blonde, I am always battling the repercussions. Coco and Eve has seriously transformed the health of my hair and I am forever grateful. This mask is for all hair types. So, if you are struggling with dry and damaged hair, or maybe you are just looking for a maintenance mask, this is your new love.

70s Babe Outfit Of The Week

Sometimes you just feel spunky, and you need to dress the part. These are always fun days for me, because dressing from another era seems to always lift my mood. If my outfit is bland then my attitude is bland. If my outfit is exciting, then my mood is lighter and happier. This original JC Penny’s jumpsuit in wearing was scored at A Current Affair, which is the holy mecca of vintage fashion that happens all over the U.S. I saw this piece and fell in love, but was afraid it was not going to fit. Luckily, it fit perfectly! Below I have sourced out 8 amazing vintage jumpsuits for you to choose from including some rocking boots to boot *insert chuckle*.
