Pharrell Williams and Zaha Hadid for Adidas Originals
The beginning of August 2015 proves to be truly productive for one of the largest sports shoes, clothing and accessory companies – Adidas. Adidas never stops to surprise! It is in its usual height skillfully and neatly uniting the classic with the modern, being always open to innovations and using the ideas of the greatest designers and architects! This time around, the famous architect Zaha Hadid has been invited to bring her contribution to a brand new Adidas collection.
Excited about the success of the previous ‘Supercolor’ collection, singer and songwriter Pharrell Williams teams up with Zaha Hadid, the bright-minded contemporary architect, to design a new Adidas Originals collection dubbed ‘Supershell’. New York artist Todd James and Japanese artist Mr. Have have also worked on the designs of the new personality-filled collection of sports shoes that you can match with a variety of cool casual style staples.
The human nature is exigent continuously and invariably demanding gorgeous, well-developed, finely treated and collaborated ideas. Zaha Hadid and Pharrell Williams are ready to take up the challenge of the loyal and faithful fans of Adidas and come up with the new product of their imagination for the Adidas Originals line.
Zaha Hadid is not a tyro at shoe designing. Although she is a famous architect known all over the world for her unique buildings spread in the big cities of the globe, she feels at ease in the field of shoe design as well. In 2012, she collaborated with the footwear company United Nude creating the fabulous 3-D printed shoe bearing the typical title “Nova”.
In one of her interviews Hadid stated: “Hopefully I would have been okay as a fashion designer. I focused on architecture, but I think I could have done many things—but maybe not all that well! I’m into fashion because it contains the mood of the moment, like music, literature, and art, whereas architecture is a very long process.”
Williams, being a fan of Hadid’s architecture, is excited to work with her; he would probably call the all-white shoes that make part of the Supershell collection simply ‘Hadidas’.
He states: “The kinds of shapes and kinds of structures that she transcribes from her mind’s imagination – I think that Zaha’s designs are just like her buildings, they augment reality forever. I feel like with the Supershell, she created – while using the dimensions of the shoe – cast shadows that weren’t necessarily there.”
The new Adidas Originals trainers come in two of the classic and timeless shades – black and white, while also featuring exciting print, color and design solutions on the toe caps. One can notice the architect’s ’handwriting’ right on the moulded rubber Shelltoe roofing the front side of the Pharrell Supershell trainers that stand out with their minimalist, but also futuristic design.
The white pair is also enhanced with the curvaceous lines, which are so appreciated by the architect, originating from the shoe tongue-base and stretching to the edges towards the soles.
