How Modern Online Entertainment Is Changing Our View of Fashion

The way we think about fashion has always been influenced by the entertainment industry. This continues to be the case, but how are modern entertainment trends changing our outlook and giving us a new way of looking at the fashion world?

The Speed of Trend Cycles

With social media and streaming services, it’s easy for us to discover new trends from across the world. This has led to 2025 having a huge range of styles from faux fur to lace and animal print. We can now very easily catch the latest trends from Paris, Milan, and Tokyo before they’ve even become firmly established in those places. 

Yet, this has also led to the trend cycles speeding up. A fashion cycle used to last a full season, but they now typically last only a few months, or even less time than this. This is partly due to the influence of digital media like social networks, and also the fact that fashion brands encourage fast fashion by regularly bringing out new styles throughout the year.  

These factors lead to new trends being discovered and quickly reaching a wide audience, before burning out quicker than before. A new look on the catwalk could become popular on Instagram or YouTube and be readily available through online retailers in just a few weeks, but it normally only has a short period of glory before being replaced by something else.

Live Streaming and Viral TV Shows
