Saving Time and Money with a Home Gym

Staying fit is a constant battle, where we fight against time and cost to put in work that most of us don’t really enjoy in the pursuit of a healthier and better-looking body. While exercise does become a lot easier once you settle into a routine, finding a routine that works can be a killer. This is true no matter where you live, with every area offering its own advantages and challenges. Looking beyond the paid gym membership route, we want to explore why home gyms that go beyond the easiest exercises might be the best option, and why getting started can be easier than you think.

You Don’t Need Much

Most people won’t have the space or money to match a home gym to what you’d see in a professional establishment. You aren’t likely to build the same setup in your garage as you’d see in the Hollywood Gym, Los Angeles, for example, but you don’t need to. Building muscle and maintaining cardiovascular health requires only a few pieces of equipment and the patience to stay committed.

To cover your basics, you’ll need a machine for cardio, such as a treadmill, exercise, or rowing machine. These can come in small form factors, often being able to fit against a wall or in a closet when folded. For flexibility, you’ll need a yoga mat, and for strength, dumbbells and a weight bench. The right nutrition, like protein powder, can also be a huge help. This won’t get you looking like a bodybuilder in most cases, but such a setup can generate enormous improvements if you’re consistent.

Gyms Add Value

If anyone does decide to make any modifications to a home to help with fitness, such as by adding a chin-up bar, these modifications are reflected in any future valuations during a sale. Whether I wanted to sell my house in Leicester or in Los Angeles, for example, a modern fast-paced sales system would take these alterations into account. These systems already let users receive funds in as little as seven days, and since more people than ever are getting into home fitness, any upgrades would be at least partially returned.

Calculating the Cost

Just like staying ahead of supplements, purchasing gym equipment won’t ever be truly cheap. Unlike supplements, investments in home exercise equipment are often one-offs, and can pay for themselves quickly when compared to standard gym plans.

A single set of high-quality adjustable dumbbells can cost around £600, which might seem like a lot, but this needs to be compared to the cost of ongoing gym memberships. Gym memberships cost around $50 a month for one person. Factor in multiple memberships for different family members over multiple years, add in transportation costs, and home gyms become much more accessible.

For many people, operating a home gym can be the ultimate solution for personal fitness. You don’t need to get up early or stay late at a public gym, you don’t need to be surrounded by strangers, and you can choose all the music or TV to watch you want. It’s an idea that’s rapidly becoming more standardized, and it’s an idea that should be taken seriously when considering your long-term personal health and fitness.
