Learn the Nine Essential Parts of Eyeglasses
When we think of glasses, we often think of vision correction. But have you ever thought about the different parts of glasses that work together to give you sharp vision?
There are 9 main parts of eyeglasses that make up the overall design. These include:

Frame
The frame is the main body of your glasses that holds everything in place. Frames can be made of metal, plastic or a mix of both. Glasses frames are available in different shapes such as cat eye, aviator and wayfarer. You can choose the frame according to your style, comfort and face shape.
Lenses
Lenses are the most important part of an eyeglass as they help you see and also protect your eyes. Many modern lenses come with different coating options such as scratch resistance, UV protection, anti-glare and blue light filter to keep your eyes protected throughout the day.
Rims
Rims hold the lenses in place and give glasses their unique style. The three common types of rims in a pair of glass are:
● Full Rim: The rims enclose the lenses around their entire edge
● Half Rim: The rims cover the lenses partially from the top, leaving the bottom part open
● No Rim/Rimless: There’s no rim and the frame and lenses are attached with a screw
The style of the rim you choose depends on your face shape, personal style and your prescription.
Bridge
The bridge sits on top of your nose and connects both the lenses together. It balances the glasses on your face and affects the overall comfort and fit of your glasses. The bridge can be narrow, wide, rigid or flexible, depending on the frame of the glass.
Nose pads
Nose pads are the small parts of glasses that sit on the sides of your nose. They prevent the glasses from slipping down your nose and face and are usually made from rubber or silicone. You can choose glasses with fixed or adjustable nose pads, depending on your comfort.
Temples & Temple Tips
The temples are also known as the arms of your glasses. They extend from the sides of the glasses frames and rest on the ears to keep your glasses in place. Temples are usually made of plastic or metal and can be either straight or curved. The length of temples can vary depending on your personal preference and face size.

At the end of the temples are the temple tips. They touch the back of your ears and help the glasses stay securely in place throughout the day.
Hinge
Hinges are small pieces of joint that connect the frame to the temples. They are usually located on the inside of the frame, meaning you can’t see them from the outside. Hinges hold the lenses securely in place and determine how your glasses fit.
End-Piece
The outermost portion of the glasses is the end piece. It is the smallest part but plays a key role in joining the temples to the main part of the glasses. The style and size of the end-piece can vary on the overall frame and temples of your glasses.
Screw
Screws are the tiny parts that hold the hinges together. They’re usually made from metal and keep your glasses stable and secure. If the screws come loose, your glasses may fall apart or feel wobbly.
