Your 5-Step Checklist to Getting Ready for Summer

Have you made your summer checklist? What, you didn’t know you needed one? Technically, you can just go into every season without any plans. Summer will come one way or another. However, we think our 5-step checklist will definitely guarantee that you have a healthier, happier, and more enjoyable summer. Check it out!

1) Make Amazing Plans

If you don’t make any plans, summer will just come and go before you notice. Pull out your calendar and start brainstorming. How you actually fill your calendar doesn’t matter too much. It can be as complex as planning a vacation, or you can keep it simple and plan a picnic with some friends. The key here is that after so much time spent indoors, you deserve to have some fun plans you can look forward to!

2) Think of Realistic Body Goals

Every body is a beach body! The only requirement is that it needs to actually be at the beach (so make sure to work that into your summer plan). That said, there’s nothing wrong with putting in the effort to feel as confident as you can about your body.

Maybe that means finding the time to visit the gym more often, making some nutritional changes, trying a body firming treatment, or amping up your exfoliation and self-tanner routine.

Our biggest tip? Stick to realistic goals, because nothing feels better than working towards a goal and actually achieving it!

3) Find Your HG Sunscreen

If you haven’t stocked up on sunscreen yet, now is the time. Technically, you should always wear sunscreen when you go outside in the daytime, no matter the season. The sun is the main culprit when it comes to sunburn, skin cancer, and premature skin aging. No one wants that! It just so happens that in summer, we spend more time outdoors with less of our skin covered.

But which sunscreen should you use? “I always recommend choosing a light, elegant sunscreen for the face, even if it means spending a little more money,” says Sevana Petrosian, the CEO and founder of SEV Laser. “Then, on the rest of your body, you can get away with a cheaper, creamier sunscreen.”

If you have a hard time finding sunscreens that work with your skin, UPF-rated clothing can be a great alternative! You can find them at a lot of stores these days, and Coolibar makes some very cute sun hats to keep your face protected.

4) Deal With Body Hair

If you’d like to never worry about body hair again, laser hair removal is worth a try. Sure, you can keep on shaving or waxing all summer long, but laser hair removal gets rid of hair in the long term.

“Our customers achieve incredible results with this hair reduction technology,” explains Petrosian. “I recommend starting laser hair removal as early as possible before summer. It takes at least 6 treatments to see results.”

If you’re in West Hollywood, SEV Laser is the ideal spot for getting laser hair removal treatments, as well as other services that’ll get you ready for summer like laser skin tightening.

5) Work On Your Inner Self

Last but not least, taking care of how you’re feeling on the inside is just as important as taking care of your body and appearance. Summer is a great time to focus on your mental health since you also get quite the serotonin boost from the sunlight.

How you go about it is up to you, but there are a lot of things you can try: therapy, meditation, spending time with people who uplift you, and taking social media breaks are all great ways to feel happier inside your head.

These are the 5 must-have steps on our checklist, but don’t be afraid to create a summer checklist that’s more in line with your goals and needs. What will you plan for the hottest of seasons?
