We’ve heard tales, or dare I say…horror stories, of many women giving up on their hair routine as they age! And we cringe every time we hear about this! Just because you may be aging (and your hair could be facing problems you haven’t experienced yet before) doesn’t mean that you should give up on your gorgeous, flowing locks. There is always a haircare routine that is best for everyone. If you are experiencing the sings of aging in your hair and see your hair thinning or falling out more frequently, then have no fear. There is most definitely a hair-care routine that will work perfect for you to help you have strong, healthy hair again. It’s just going to take you a minute to find the ideal routine for you.

Right off the bat, if you find yourself looking for a hair care routine as you are aging, I’d highly recommend Better Not Younger. After all, you’re going to need a routine that provides your hair with the proper vitamins needed for hair growth, and Better Not Younger focuses on empowering women to keep their hair healthy and helping them to be proud of their glam as they age. So, as you get older and your hair changes, think about incorporating the following hair routine into your life.

Hair Serum

If you plan to wash your hair in the morning when you get up, think about putting on a hair serum that is packed with nourishing ingredients for your scalp before bed. Your hair care journey should, after all, start at a healthy scalp. By conditioning your scalp and, in turn, the roots of your hair, you are allowing your hair to grow stronger and fuller. Think about applying a good hair serum in the evening to allow it to sit on and nourish your scalp before washing it off in the morning with your regular wash routine. Or, if you wash your hair at other times throughout the day, think about applying it an hour or two before your wash so you can get all the benefits.

Shampoo that Removes Scalp Oil

In order to have strong, healthy hair, you should look for shampoo that is gentle but also effective at removing the oils from your scalp. Think about washing solely the scalp and top of your head when you do go to wash your hair and don’t focus on the ends of your hair, as you don’t need them dry, damaged, or breaking off. Also, try to wash your hair every other day or even less frequently to prevent drying out and breaking your strands.

Super Moisturizing Conditioner

When it comes to conditioning, make sure you condition your hair with a super hydrating formula every time you wash it. Be sure to leave the conditioner on your hair for as long as possible so it can soak in all the benefits. Don’t place the conditioner directly on your scalp, as this could weigh down your hair. Instead, put it on your ends to keep them healthy and strong and to prevent breakage.

Hair Thickener

A hair thickener should be an imperative part of your routine if your hair is aging, as hair thickeners wrap around thinning hair strands, helping to lift and thicken them. The number one hair concern of again women is thinning hair, and this will be your preventative to that problem!

Dry Shampoo

You definitely don’t want to wash your hair too often, as this will only make it dryer, which could cause breakage and damage. After all, the more you age, the gentler you should be on your tresses. So, think about using a dry shampoo to help dissolve any build up, support your scalp health, and to add fullness and volume. A dry shampoo is a great alternative to washing your hair and will keep your hair from getting dry and damaged from over washing. So, every other day, when you feel like you want to wash your hair in the shower, think instead about putting on a shower cap and utilizing a dry shampoo as part of your routine. Only when you think your hair is too oily should you say, “enough is enough” and give it a proper wash. This way, you can help keep your hair from getting too dried out.

All in all, as we age, just as our personalities change and evolve to becoming stronger and adapt to the times, we must also allow our hair to evolve and grow with us. That requires altering our hair routine to adapt to the new conditions of our hair. Finding the right hair routine for you as you age is crucial, though it may take some time experimenting. Be sure to add Better Not Younger into your new hair research, and celebrate who you are today and how much you’ve grown and evolved!
