A Sneak Peek of Alexa Chung’s New Fashion Label
For years we admired Alexa Chung’s impeccable, adventurous fashion expression. Since she first showed up on Channel 4’s music show, Popworld, in 2007, we all fell in love with the way she spices up her fashion statements with androgynous elements. Regardless of the soft masculine note in her style incorporated through the oversized knits and classic fit pants, Alexa always captives with her genuine beauty and cheerful personality.
Her long, lean runway legs, ocean-blue eyes, and splendid beauty brought her on many fashion catalog’s pages and campaigns for well-known brands. In her fashion portfolio, there are names such as Longchamp (which named a Mulberry bag after her), Superga, Lacoste, AG jeans and Marks & Spencer. In addition to collaborations, she has graced the runways on fashion shows for many haute couture fashion houses and was an art director of UGG. Also, Alexa is a former contributing editor to British Vogue.
The good news is that we finally have a chance to get a piece of her fashion wonder! Last summer the English-born star proudly announced that she is working on her very own fashion label “Alexachung’. She formed a team of six designers led by the former head of atelier at Haider Ackermann, Edwin Bodson, to work on her very first signature collection.
We patiently waited for Alexa’s next move and finally, almost a year later she announced that her first collection is launching on 30th of May.
The label teased us with a video featuring Alexa gracefully riding a beautiful white stallion. She wears a white ruffle collar blouse, white jeans, and gingham plaid riding jacket. At the end, the white stallion impeccably creates Alexa’s brand logo “A’ with its hooves. The short film called “Dressage’ is directed by Daniel and Lorin Askil, famous Australian filmmakers.
Alexa explained the story behind the video in a press release:
“It is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of the dedication, precision, skill and determination needed to develop and create something aesthetically pleasing, coupled with the feeling that you could spend endless amounts of time trying to create something that means a lot to you, hoping that some might appreciate it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess it¬¨‚Ƭ¨‚à´s supposed to be funny.’
As stated in The Telegraph, her collection will include more than 100 pieces. Additionally, the brand will offer shoes and jewelry to complement the unique designs from their first collection.
