Gucci’s Spring 2017 Ad Campaign Goes Wild
If you thought Versace’s spring 2017 ad campaign was the wildest yet, you’d better think twice! The newly released Gucci spring/summer 2017 ad campaign might just have figuratively won the “Coolest Ad Campaign Ever’ competition, setting the bar extremely high for basically everybody, Alessandro Michele himself included.
Creative director Alessandro Michele, along with stylist Chris Simmonds and photographer Glen Luchford, headed to Rome to outdo himself and to translate his funky Gucci spring/summer 2017 collection into something imposing and literally wild, with real giraffes and tigers posing along with the models.
As for the latter, Alessandro Michele also asked “a band of artists and colorful characters’ to join the photoshoot, too, and in return they ultimately gave the ad campaign its most bizarre and authentic look. Iconic fashion photographer Glen Luchford, who filtered the campaign’s pictures with his signature Nineties-inspired touch, also directed the campaign’s film, with the soundtrack ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§Amore Disperato’ (desperate love) by Nada being just the icing on a cake that already tastes good.
Gucci’s campaign is a revolutionary 25-picture shoot that aims at capturing the “artists, intellectuals, creatives and outsider characters” that live in Rome, and whose creativity serves as never-ending source of inspiration for director Alessandro Michele. As for the real wild animals the campaign features, Gucci’s official press release almost normalizes their presence, catapulting us into Michele’s wildest dreams.
“Wild cats nonchalantly roam the romantic city alongside our [cast], a giraffe is fed grapes as they dine al fresco, and lions and tigers are welcomed into their home as they watch TV.”
Aside from his visionary stream of consciousness, for his Gucci spring 2017 ad campaign, creative director Alessandro Michele mainly focused on everything from the collection’s Eighties-inspired staples to its already iconic accessory pieces, the handbags and jewelry among them being some of the most highly anticipated items of 2017.
With a campaign that consists of a grand total of 25 different pictures, Michele managed to give us a coherent and never-before-seen behind the scenes look at his entire Gucci spring 2017 collection, even showing us what his favorite combinations of staples, colors and accessories are. What we thus got is a whimsical interpretation of the collection’s true essence, which is that of an eclectic array of staples that exude wilderness, joie the vivre and even some cool, suburban conceptual vibes.
And wild indeed are not only the depicted animals, but also the prints Alessandro Michele predominantly focused on, among which those displaying ferocious tigers (of course) and snakes surely dominate.
Gucci’s spring 2017 ad campaign’s pictures will officially make their debut on January 1st 2017, so if you want a permanent unconventional look of the Fontana di Trevi, get your scrapbooks ready and wait for the main magazines to feature Alessandro Michele and Glen Luchford’s unique Gucci ad campaign!
