Vetements and Marques’Almeida Launch Holiday 2016 Looks for Nordstrom
What do Vetements, Marques’Almeida and Nordstrom have in common? From now on, (at least) one collaboration for the perfect holiday collection, which is already available at Nordstrom.com!
Dubbed “Winter White’, the Vetements and Marques’Almeida holiday 2016 collections for Nordstrom are a part of one of Nordstrom Director of Creative Projects Olivia Kim’s most imposing projects, “Space’. Created to promote and highlight the looks of some of the world’s leading emerging artists, Space focuses on houses such as Marques’Almeida, Isa Arfen, Vetements and Faustine Steinmetz, among others, with the primarily purpose to lessen the distances between them and the American audience.
“There was a good mix of brands that had been established for a while and they didn’t have really great distribution here in the States‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö√Üthey were being sold at a couple of boutiques around the country. [‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ] Space was really meant to be a platform to introduce our customers to another aspect of what designer fashion could be, this advanced and emerging designer world,’ explained Olivia Kim almost a year ago to Vogue US.
Now that we finally have the “Winter White’ collection available for purchase, we get a better idea of the philosophy behind the project.
With Marques’Almeida known for their raw aesthetics, and Vetements renowned for their anti-fashion approach to the industry, “Winter White’ is all about unconventional motifs and haute couture-eque allures, refined by other emerging designers’ creations that are equally astounding as well.
Along with Marques’Almeida and Vetements, “Winter White’ features must-have accessories from Kara, WWAKE, Sarah & Sebastian, Shrimps, Brother Vellies, Simone Rocha, Charlotte Chesnais and Comme des Garcons, whose It items got all dipped in a soft white color too.
“I’ve always loved all the various interpretations of the holidays and what they mean to so many different cultures, so by creating a capsule around white, it seemed so fresh and renewing‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö√Ülike a clean slate,’ Olivia Kim enthusiastically told Vogue US. “And it reminded me of snow!’
Deconstructed and one-of-a-kind indeed, “Winter White’ feature everything from more wearable staples, such as an elegant flared shirtdress, to anti-fashion deconstructed attire options, such as Marques’Almeida’s draped denim jacket.
Of course, Vetements’ notorious hoodies are to be found too, here featuring an extravagant and street wear-inspired ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§Antwerp’ print on the front.
Mules in soft fur and with wooden chunky heels, layered skirts and crop tops complete the collection with its more haute couture look, while shredded hems, frilled layers of fabrics and sheer materials embellish some of the looks with unique street style vibes.
Along with “Winter White’, Nordstrom’s Space project includes other appealing collaborations entitled “Street Rave,” “Touchy Feely,” “Queen of Hearts,” and “New Classic Rock”, which we highly recommend having a look at! They are all exclusively available at nordstrom.com/c/space.
