Philipp Plein Spring/Summer 2017 Runway Show: Alice in Ghettoland
Sporty, sexy and simply irresistible, the Philipp Plein spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear show, dubbed “Alice in Ghettoland” and presented on the Milan Fashion Week runway, is the epitome of Girls Gone Wild it seems, with the rebelliousness of the female heart, along with her sexier, flirtier, more utterly feminine facets shown off in an overwhelmingly fashionable manner. There is so much to the 57 different looks that feature the female beauty from every side of her; we shall begin by simply saying that this is one of Plein’s best in a long while.
The German fashion designer is only 38 and going places. Moving from law to furniture design, interior decoration and then bags and accessories before settling into women’s clothing, Philipp Plein is by far one of the more intriguing designers in the industry today, both in terms of his creativity and his background. He’s grown so much that his products are now carried in 66 stores around the world, while his last award was in 2014 for the International Fashion Brand nomination.
Now, what makes this spring collection so awesome? Let’s start with the sportiness of it all. That use of denim is simply too lovely, especially when paired with golden accessories to spice things up. There is so much denim included that no one has a reason not to be donning some Philipp Plein come 2017.
From the tiniest of shorts to the high waist matched with crop top seafarer’s knee-length trousers, extreme sexiness with the gold and denim midi dress that sports gold chains all over, from the straps to the open areas on the sides (bust to knee), as well as the overalls that have been tucked into gold chain embellished open-toe boots, a gold chain vest pulled over, there is just every type to choose from.
From what we can see though, you can’t do the denim, light or darker blue washes, without the added golden threading or accessories. That includes the golden fabric on corsets, short pockets and even over the shoulders, from gold embellished shoes to boot lacing, jacket panels and even the sunglasses.
The set and features of the Philipp Plein spring 2017 collection are almost reminiscent of Fergie’s latest music video called “M.I.L.F. $’, where the milkman goes down a neighbourhood full of sexy women who love their fashion and their gold, who show off legs and well-toned bodies, while Kim Kardashian takes a milky shower in her towering golden platform heels.
With the white picket fencing, the men working in the background and the ladies appearing in some rather imaginative costumes, it certainly is not hard to see the parallels. Fergie herself was performing, while Paris Hilton walked the runway wearing a floor-length sexy number.
Add in high collar jackets that barely cover the nipples and amply show off the abs, cropped pieces with stars and bubbles showing off the skin underneath, and high gladiator boots elongating the legs and you have a collection that literally makes one swoon. It is certainly not a collection you can easily pass by without staring or coveting a few of these incredible designs.
