Banana Republic Spring/Summer 2017 Collection ” NYFW
The Banana Republic spring/summer 2017 collection is stunning, professional yet laid back. The collection is as well tailored as expected of anything showing during New York Fashion Week, but the ensembles had a little something extra.
The insight and feel has been inspired by the visuals in Mumbai as a portion of Banana Republic’s spring 2017 collection production was in India. The Senior VP of Design really included the aesthetics of Mumbai. As an example, the laser-cut work on some of the clothes was inspired by the traditional tilework seen in Mumbai and other parts of India.
The entirely of the Banana Republic spring 2017 collection was richly colored with strong patterns and textures that made a statement at New York Fashion Week. The handbags and jackets are already well appreciated with people publicly declaring their love for some of the pieces and plans to fold them into current outfits. The bags were interesting as well, from clutches to satchels in several different textures, materials and sheens.
The included colors are richly presented in shades of bright blues, peach and coral, rich deep red rusts and scarlet and even crisp whites and true dark black. Woodgrain patterns and micro stripes are a great addition to the overall look of the Banana Republic spring/summer 2017 collection.
Even better, with this collection is a capsule line of pieces that was curated by Banana Republic’s style ambassador ” fashionista Olivia Palermo, and it is available for purchase now at BananaRepublic.com.
Patterns for men included a nod to madras as well, which are lightweight cotton fabrics that are typically patterned and textured with a plaid design. These hints were thoroughly integrated into the looks to boost the appearance of the overall ensembles in the collection. Everything appears diverse, yet well able to stand on its own.
Checked patterns made several stunning appearances as well, in long skirts with a split, and even a full suit where rather than adding a solid color with the suit each piece boldly featured the pattern. The black bag accompanying this look was simple and elegant. Interesting ensembles include several nods to traditional Indian garb, such as the bias cut, rich rust striped dress with the shadow of a sari silhouette.
Long skirts with pleats and stripes met the checkered shirt and a textured jacket, with a set of grey loafers and a leather zip closed clutch for an exciting ensemble. Every ensemble is fantastic; all items in the looks are buyable and wearable.
The rich, peachy pantsuit was beautiful and minimalist and can be paired with any bag and jacket in the collection. Everything was gorgeous, and with both menswear and womenswear presented the overall effect was a glorious representation of the gift of style.
