Jill Stuart’s Spring/Summer 2017 Collection Reinforces The Athleisure Trend
The entirety of the Jill Stuart spring/summer 2017 collection floated down the runway. Every piece had a whimsical feel to it, as the hemlines all seemed to float. A lot of interesting detail was seen in this 2017 spring collection that was imbued with the youthful athleisure trend without it appearing overwhelming.
Bold colors, florals and even silver wafted down the runway bringing the feeling of spring with the array of blues and greens, lilacs and the bold appearance of black. In spring and summer collections black is never really the star color, but in the Jill Stuart spring 2017 collection black worked beautifully with bright colors to offset each other.
Every piece in the collection stood out, from the variety of strappy shoulders and halters to full sleeved tops down to the floating hems of the maxi dress and the platform fronted high-heeled shoes. Every look had an element of the unexpected to it, some with ruching and a touch of sparkle.
An asymmetrical hemline looked quite intriguing over checked shoes. From sparkling periwinkle over shimmering silver to glittering gold and even a look of all white, every detail was cohesive with another, even if they were not traditionally matched. Jill Stuart’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear line was enhancing, a great addition to any wardrobe, and very fun and light. Even the three-quarter-length coat went beautifully well with a keyhole halter that featured a side sash over pants.
A variety of necklines were shown that included asymmetrical and single shoulder necklines, different sized and directional keyholes, and even a few V shapes, sweetheart, and boat-neck style necklines. One of the most interesting features was the addition of the body chain, starting as a necklace and ending in a waist chain, which was very popular in the earlier part of the millennium.
Layers that included leggings and perfectly coordinated arm warmers made an appearance, but in a manner more akin to elbow-length gloves than the traditional arm warmer. The textures looked smooth, soft and light, perfect for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.
From the long sleeved, V-shaped neckline and floating hemmed maxi dress to the light bags and comfortably fitted silhouettes of the multi pieced looks, the entire range of climates for spring and summer is accounted for and well represented with fashionable options. Multiple skirt, pant and sleeve lengths made a great show of appealing to all preferences.
The makeup deserves a special note, as all of the models displayed a nude or clean lip but shimmering shadows of complementary blues and a lighter appearance of what looks to be a burnished peach color.
For those interested in florals, these ranged from soft and light to bold and dark without losing their springtime feel. This is an accomplishment for Jill Stuart as much as the color spectrum pieces that do not appear too much like a rainbow or watercolor painting. The look is still edgy and fun, with every personality represented…
There was something for everyone in the Jill Stuart spring/summer 2017 collection, and it was a true ready-to-wear line that really felt like spring and summer.
