Dsquared2 Resort 2017 Collection
Canada and fashion seem to be standing so far from each other, well, that’s only when speaking in general. Particularly speaking, twin brothers Dean and Den Caten, fashion designers of Canadian descent landed on the fashion arena to break the mold and bring new energy to the industry. That’s why whenever we lay eyes on DSquared2, the Canadian symbol maple leaf is always there, including in the recently unveiled Dsquared2 resort 2017 collection.
Canadian maple leaves emblazoned either on denim jackets or oversized handbags made a successful assemblage with British flag signs and multiple “DSquared2′ declarations. Actually, Great Britain, the adopted hometown of the twin brothers, served as a great inspiration for their new resort 2017 collection. It came as the continuation of their recent spring 2017 men’s show, where those David-Bowie-style scandalous platform boots kicked up a fuss and were used by Dean and Den Caten to celebrate their homosexuality.
For their resort 2017 collection for women, the blue-sky-thinking designers went to all marbles to resurrect the extravagant and glam-rock style of the British legend. The platform boots were replaced with metallic platform sandals paired with lurex socks, but those lace-up high-heeled boots at times reaching the knees were even more effective in terms of channeling the chaotic crisscrossed essence of the rock legend.
As was expected, his wide-leg trousers made a chapter of the Dsquared2 resort 2017 collection, more often occurring in black and paired either with preppy style polo shirts or with some sequined or iridescent lurex knitted tops. But if you need to see more affinity with David Bowie, nothing could better work than the red printed pantsuit teamed with a skinny black scarf, platform sandals and punk lip piercing.
To enhance the glam rock atmosphere of the collection, Dean and Den Caten used iridescent sequins, scintillating lurex, metallic leather and mesh galore. But the duo raised the stakes with sequined camouflage texture giving birth to a super mini drawstring waist dress and a pair of camo pants. Then arrived that blindingly bright yellow leather dress with a center zip that we have decided to label as the sunniest piece of the collection.
The British flag print was peeping out here and there throughout the whole collection more often on handbags and denim pieces. And if you have a yen to catch more attributes of British origin, trilby hats, argyle and checkered patterns come to carry the task.
The collection was also a unique tribute to the best friends of any woman ” handbags. Here you are sure to find lots of bags of any style and any color to your liking ” starting from carry-all suitcase-style bags to sports khaki sling bags to cross bodies to even elegant metallic clutches that the duo recommends to carry with those maxi side slit head turners.
