Alberta Ferretti To Show Demi Couture Collection At Paris Couture Week
Despite being one of the only branches of fashion not making leaps and bounds in news headlines, couture fashion is easily the source of the most phenomenal work. Alberta Ferretti is proving just that, by planning a Limited Edition demi-couture runway show, to take place during Paris Couture Week. The line will walk the catwalk on July 3rd, and will be the designer’s first step into the couture week.
As a couture week “virgin,” Ferretti is alongside other newcomer brands like Brioni, which will be unveiling the first collection of Justin O’Shea, Herm‚Äö√†√∂¬¨√Üs, with a resort collection, and Vetements, with men’s and women’s collections. July couture week really seems to be looking up, especially following a lower-key week back in January.
“I thought it was time to give a real identity to Limited Edition,” said Ferretti, in a preview interview with Vogue.com. “When I started it in 2011, I only presented it once a year as a capsule created to meet the demand of my customers for both evening and cocktail attire. Each year, it’s had a greater impact on the business. In 2015, I started to present it seasonally, completing it with shoes and accessories. I think now is the time to do a fashion show.”
We’re very pleased to agree with that last sentiment! With revenue and popularity of the collection at a high, there’s no time like the present to showcase it on a runway, especially during a prestigious weeklong extravaganza like couture week.
Ferretti’s couture collections are truly special to their genre as well. The clothes don’t take a special stance of being made-to-order, or one of a kinds in this case. Instead, they are limited edition pieces that come in very small numbers, so only a select few will be sold out, but multiple garments were indeed manufactured for its purposes.
The show Ferretti is planning for her Limited Edition Demi Couture collection will be a small, intimate setting, held at the designer’s own headquarters, the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. There will only be 100 guests invited to the event, to boot. With such a personal location for the show, Ferretti added on that “it’s like inviting them all to my house.”
As part of her interview, Ferretti released a sketch of one of the looks for the upcoming show. The intricate design depicted in the image given tells us that for her show we’ll be treated to some great movement, as with the fringe and lavish embroidery pictured. We’ll be looking forward to seeing this dress come to life on the runway, as well as the other creations from her Limited Edition collection.
