See Gucci’s Net-a-Porter Capsule Collection for Summer 2016
When Gucci revealed an exclusive capsule collection was about to arrive at Net-a-Porter online shelves, the online consumers and Alessandro Michele fans ran amok. The Italian creative director is probably one of Gucci’s most acclaimed creative minds of all times, and now that we can finally take a first look at the upcoming Gucci x Net-a-Porter 2016 capsule collection, every single staple seems to satisfactorily meet our expectations. There are still two more days to go until the arrival of the collection at Net-a-Porter, but until then let’s see what this special collaboration has in store for us!
When the first news about the Gucci x Net-a-Porter capsule collection hit the Internet back in the beginning of May, there was much speculation whether it was going to be all about accessories or some statement staples a la Michele. Since Gucci is one of the online retailer’s top sellers, the partnership seemed however to be a natural one for both the Italian fashion house and the e-commerce site, and we can’t help but hope there will be more of them in future. And, now, after Michele’s fashion success at the yearly Met Gala, we finally know that Net-a-Porter is going to launch its exclusive capsule collection on May 12, meaning that we have just a few hours to brace ourselves and our wallets.
The 20-piece mini collection’s price tags range from $270 to $5,300, and include both statement accessories and ensembles. The overall aesthetics of the pieces are those of Gucci’s ” classic and traditional yet with modern touches that are very dear to Alessandro Michele. If you are one of Michele’s followers and can’t help constantly falling in love with his oversized botanical motifs and references from the animal kingdom, you will rejoice at discovering that they still are the core details of Michele’s creative process for the Gucci x Net-a-Porter capsule collection.
There are also some strong feminine touches added to the collection, with delicate roses inspired by 19th-century tapestry that are just too cute to handle. You will find such patterns on the elegant loafer slides (one of Gucci’s hallmarks when it comes to shoes), bell-bottom jeans and even the signature Dionysus shoulder bag (available in different sizes), which comes in a brand new look that will hardly go unnoticed. If you like the 19th-century motifs but would like to just get a little statement piece, you can always opt for the flowery silk scarfs, accessorizing your day-to-day looks with their loveliness. A blouse made of lavish silk georgette is meant to be paired with an ethereal pleated skirt, while the heeled mules with a gold heel are just the go-to shoes for every occasion.
Michele also reinvented even Gucci’s infamous Heron print, using it for a contemporary red sweatshirt in neoprene with the sleeves and neckline made of glittery lurex. Among the pieces you will also find a whimsical schoolgirl mini skirt in royal blue, a pair of cozy yet always elegant sneakers, matching blouses and skirts with heart motifs and even an elegant floor-length red dress that is just astounding. With his capsule collection, Michele makes it clear that going matchy-matchy is the new black, this season!
