Michael Kors Introduces First Smart Watch
If you think futurism is currently a trending topic only for what concerns clothes, think twice! More and more fashion designers are looking up to top-notch technologies to complete their accessory lines, and this tendency isn’t going to stop any time soon. American designer Michael Kors is just one of the many technology enthusiasts, and he has just announced the release of a wearable accessory line, made in collaboration with Android. From Nike’s latest self-lacing sneakers, which literally catapult us Back in the Future, to the Michael Kors smart watch, technology seems to be already a huge part of the fashion industry, and is gaining more and more importance as the years pass.
The Michael Kors wearable technologic accessories will be available starting with this fall, and will be all about smart watches. According to Kors himself, what he was looking for was to lessen the distances between glamour and practical everyday objects, increasing the benefits of smart technologies and subsequently making the customers’ day-to-day schedules and tasks easier to follow. “I’m in the business of making people’s lives easier through fashion. I thought, ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§Why can’t tech accessories be chic and glamorous?’ Technology is impacting life more and more. It should reflect your personal taste as much as anything else,’ Kors told WWD.
Retailing at $395 USD and available in select department stores, the Michael Kors smart watch will be available in two versions (the woman’s one is more glamorous, while the man’s watch is sportier), featuring interchangeable leather and silicone wristbands, interchangeable watch faces. The watch will work even with iPhone smartphones even if Powered by Android Wear. Geeks and overall technology enthusiasts will be impressed to see that the touch screens of the watches support many options, among which social media updates, App notifications, email alerts and smart help from Google‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√´¬¨¬¢ will probably be the most appreciated.
Michael Kors’ technologic twist was announced at Baselworld 2016, the famous watch industry’s premier trade show, by Michael Kors CEO John Idol and Engineering for Android Wear Vice President David Singleton, and both seemed extremely thrilled about the partnership. “Our brand is built on giving our customers what they want for their 24/7, fast-paced lifestyle. We know they’re busy and need to be connected. We’re now offering them a smartwatch that lets them have access to a world of glamour, escape and adventure,’ said Idol, while Singleton went further predicting that smart watches will hit it big pretty soon, as they let people connect with each other better and faster. He then revealed how mutually satisfying the experience of working together was both for Michael Kors and Android, and how their collaborations will develop in the future, definitely setting a good example for those who seek similar partnerships in the future.
“I really feel like this year, wearables are coming into their own as a category. There is huge interest from consumers in smart accessories. [‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ]In many cases, we are seeking each other out at same time. It’s important to feel like together we can produce an experience that will resonate, and that we work together to design a concept.’
