Paris Fashion Week Fall 2016 Best Street Looks
Paris Fashion Week does not happen only on the runways, although that’s what gets the most media attention. However, these days the streets of the French capital are no different from the glamorous catwalks. In fact, there is an entirely different fashion show happening in the streets of Paris as the week kicks in. Are you just going to get some bread from the store across the street? You’d better be looking your best, because the competition is intense. Here are the top 7 things we’ve noticed about the street style during Paris Fashion Week fall 2016.
1. Dark & Flashy: Coat Studies
The weather is not always on our team. The week started with rain, which allowed the Parisian fashionistas to take out the coats… in fact, the entire city was a fashion show with a variety of coats, jackets and blazers. Most of the looks fell into two of the main coat categories; they were either dark and serious or flashy and playful. There was almost no middle ground here. Black, brown, and gray were matched against deep blue, red, orange, etc. Coats over blazers or see-through tops, coats in prints, coats in fur, and just coats were everywhere!
2. Sleeves Get Longer and Longer
If you’ve been following the top fashion trends at New York and London Fashion weeks, you’d know that many designers went for really long sleeves. Well, only a few days later, the trend has already taken the streets of Paris. We were expecting it to take over the fashion scene across the world in fall, but‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ the sooner, the better, right?
3. Denim Game Is ON
While you could hardly tell the fabrics in the layers of clothing Parisian fashionistas were rocking, one fabric definitely stood out! Denim was very popular in the streets of Paris, appearing in trousers, suit pants, and more. Who said jeans are for casual events, they just became the fanciest fabric you can wear!
4. Would you like to play?
How would you like to play a dressing game? Rules? What rules? There are absolutely no rules. Take the positivity inside you and project it to your outfit, whether it comes out as a fluffy fuchsia fur coat, or a full pink suit, or a rain coat with the text “Polizei’ on the back (be alert around this one and pray that you haven’t committed a fashion crime that day), Charlie Chaplin shoes, and so much more. Keep it trendy, but always make sure to have fun!
5. Wide Legged Pants
Another trend that has made our top lists of trends for fall 2016, wide legged pants were a thing this March. In fact, take no limits on actually how wide you want your pants to be, Paris street style proved there truly is no limit.
6. Flared Jeans
Of course, skinny is still hot, but there was a much-expected comeback we longed to see for years. The flared jeans of our childhoods are making their ways back into the best fashion capitals of Europe. Let’s hope this feminine silhouette gets picked up.
7. Let the Hunger Games Begin: the Capitol is Hyped!
While there was no crazy hair going on, the styling definitely took some inspiration from the Capitol. Here’s what we learned from the best street looks during Paris Fashion Week.
– Do not count the layers, just put them all on. Even if you think a shirt goes perfectly well under another shirt, give it a bold try.
– Your body might be cold in one part, but very hot in another. Symmetry in coats and knitwear is no longer necessary.
– If you’ve ever craved to experiment with the diversity of textures and prints in one outfit, now’s the time to start. Don’t worry, there is very little chance you will outrun some of the looks we saw in Paris.
Go ahead and explore our selection of the best outfits we’ve caught in Paris. The runways became so modest, take your dose of extravaganza from the European street style.
