Giambattista Valli Fall 2016 RTW Sticks to Frills & Flowers
Whenever you have an appetite for aromatic flowers, withal in spades, any way you slice it, Giambattista Valli comes to your view. True to form, the Giambattista Valli fall/winter 2016-2017 RTW collection, brought into light today just a few hours ago, was knee-deep with flowers densely and intricately arranged on the whole 47 pieces. The Italian designer has always marched to the beat of a different drummer, absolutely declining the leg-covering concept and commanding every last woman on Earth to open legs whether it be spring or fall, summer or winter. And we make a clean breast that following his command is more than enjoyable for us, well-nigh convincing us to tuck away all those mannish pants and go genuinely ladylike.
Mini silhouettes were riding off in all directions and only Giambattista Valli could cut the mustard in bringing about so many designs disparately different from each other. We saw many matchy-matchy neat jackets and skirts and coat-dresses all covered with mosaic botanical motifs in black, yellow and blue.
As opposed to the slick tailoring, soon those fragile billowing dresses came to stage ” a white stunner with pleated skirt, ruffled bib and romantic botanical embroidered fragments round the waist and on the turtleneck, an all-white baby-doll dress with two black ribbon details and a lovely large bow at the neck, another floral embroidery dress on Gigi Hadid and if you are buzzing for more romantic wavering and swaying treat yourself to those black-white striped illusion pieces with myriads of featherweight ruffles swinging to and fro, up and down.
Giambattista’s great affection for gladiator footwear does not seem to fade away any time in the future and we saw them wandering through the whole Giambattista Valli fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection matched with any number across the board, be it a coat, a skirt suit or an ethereal featherweight dresses. And those gladiator stripes were making psychedelic tableaux in combination with a metallic striped coat or a furry striped one to struggle frost in winter. There were also delicate furry vests and trench coats and bomber jackets and military styles to come to anyone’s liking.
This is Giambattista Valli, a connoisseur of haute couture, a great admirer of sophisticated eveningwear and the perfect man to bring them to life. That said, the Giambattista Valli fall 2016 collection could not but touch on haute couture category thus dedicating a small chapter of the collection to splendor. We loved to bits those intimate see-through mosaic gowns with some ethereal ruffles undulating.
Then there was an abrupt transition to vibrant and enlivening shades that literally blew away the cobwebs ” a bittersweet halter neck gown competing with a Venetian red ruffled gown with a humble neckline. But the winner was… a majestic black illusion gown with white patterns galore and two ruffled details on the bodice, looking all the more sensual on sweet Gigi Hadid.
