Caitlyn Jenner & MAC Cosmetics Team Up For a Lipstick
The Jenner/Kardashian clan has been causing quite a stir in the fashion and beauty industries, and now it’s time for the likes of Kendall and Kylie to step away from the limelight for a moment to make way for Caitlyn. The idea of a transgender face for a brand is still unfavorable to some, but it is undeniably a huge motion within the industry, and Caitlyn has always been right at the head of controversial topics like this as of late, so this is nothing new for her. MAC Cosmetics has tapped Caitlyn Jenner for “Finally Free,” a limited-edition lipstick. This is an exciting move on its own, but the most striking aspect of the lip color is that 100% of the price will be donated toward a transgender initiative.
Kylie is the more commonly thought of sister when thinking of beauty initiatives, with her line of lip products, so considering Caitlyn’s connection to the beauty industry as well as her recognizable face toward transgender freedom, the collaboration was an easy one to figure out. For now, the collaboration can be found as #MACCaitlynJenner. Searching this on social media may not produce the best results though, as there has been quite a bit of negative and vulgar response toward Caitlyn and toward MAC. This is an unfortunate, yet tragically expected outcome of the partnership, and is an effect only time could possible resolve. But despite all of these controversial, extra-large matters of social unrest, there is still a gorgeous new lip color to be had.
Finally Free will be a rosy shade of nude, and will be found for $17 starting on April 7. The entire selling price will be donated to supplement MAC’s AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative, so it is ensured your purchase will be going to a good cause. This is an issue that relies on spreading the word, so lipstick seems to be the perfect way to convey the importance. They say the medium is the message, and lips do a lot of talking.
Even regardless of the important message being provided by purchasing something from this line, there is no doubt this lipstick shade won’t last very long on the shelves. With the large following the Jenner family has, along with the following of Caitlyn alone, there is going to be a lot of social media hype about the product’s release next month. Kylie’s lip kits sold out in minimal time, and I’d say this would be a fair basis to say it will be no different with Caitlyn’s face on the product.
