H&M Spring 2016 Lookbook Brings Modern ‘70s Back
What is happening with all the brands and designers, bringing the ’70s back? It’s not just the designs, it’s the campaigns too. The styling, the accessories, the setting, everything screams the good old ’70s. It’s getting to the point where you cannot afford to ignore them (you’ll be risking to turn into a fashion outsider) and you’re about to get a new dose by the H&M spring 2016 Feminine Expression lookbook.
Jumping into the trend pool, H&M acts fast when it comes to viral fashion trends. Its new “Feminine Expression’ is not only about the casual chic, but also about the ’70s. Models Laura Julie and Aneta Pajak take us back a few decades and add a modern flavor at the same time. Although the influence is heavily in the ’70s, there are modern touches to the lookbook that will make you wear this collection without looking too vintage.
Ruffled blouses (a key piece as we see it displayed more than once), leather jackets (the ultimate stamp of hotness of all times), and skirts are some of the main pieces featured on the lookbook. We’ve also got another season favorite, printed dresses. Even if there are no printed dresses in the radius of 100 miles, find the local H&M store, they always have a few printed designs for customers like you. Now, this long-existing tradition is working for the benefit of the brand, as printed dresses are seen everywhere in the fashion world.
Some of the pieces might not be the most expected items in a ’70s-inspired collection, but considering the success they’ve gained in the last few seasons, keeping them trendy is nothing but reasonable. The wide sleeved poncho is one of those items we’ve noticed so far.
As for the rest, it’s all crystal clear; H&M wants you to welcome spring with delicate femininity. Be floral, ethereal, light, and happy! And it’s not about the feet of fabric hanging behind you and flowing in the wind, that’s not the kind of femininity we’re talking about. We’re thinking the cool new clothing items, adorned with teasingly playful details, cuts, and fit. We’re thinking about styling, your character, not just your outfit. Let out those loose waves and let them breathe some fresh air, because it’s on top of the trend hill this spring!
Don’t be scared of the wide-legged pants; H&M doesn’t capitalize too much on those and offers them as sort of alternatives to skin-tight jeans. Give them a try; they are super comfortable and extremely feminine when you master the feminine walk. These pants impress in movement.
After all, we’re all happy to see the bare shoulder long-sleeve combo back (we’ve missed you so much!). Or that white turtleneck sweater. There is so much nostalgia in H&M’s spring 2016 collection, and so many modern perspectives that we have a strange feeling that the Feminine Expression will do more than good in stores.
It’s already up on H&M’s official website, so don’t lose a moment if this is how you see your upcoming spring. Have a great shopping day and long live the ’70s!
