Givenchy Pre-Fall 2016 Collection
The Givenchy pre-fall 2016 collection is out! This time, thanks to the teaser posted on Givenchy’s Instagram account earlier, we knew what to expect and, most importantly, where to expect. Givenchy’s famous Italian designer, Riccardo Tisci picked Berlin as the venue for his new collection lookbook. Whether the designer will go on a fashion road trip and feature other cities in future collections or not, the images could easily be turned into fashion postcards ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ send one to a friend if you’re in the German capital now.
If you’ve ever been to Berlin (and note, the season doesn’t even matter) you know the unique atmosphere the city has. On the surface, it doesn’t look like a fashion capital at all. A few streets would fit into the gothic extravaganza of the fashion world, but other than that, it’s always cold, gloomy and ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ mysteriously beautiful. Stay in the city for a week and you’ll dive deep into one of the most creative urban scenes in the world; beauties of Berlin are hidden and you’ll have to make some effort to see them.
As opposed to that, the usual Givenchy team, Irina Shayk, Deion Smith, Leila Goldkuhl, Kris Gottschalk, and John Kolic didn’t stay hidden at all, instead posing on the backdrop of Berlin streets and showing off Tisci’s brand new collection. The lookbook has 2 more backgrounds ” a cozier Avenue Montaigne showroom and a simple grey background.
Both black and white have preserved their overwhelming presence in the collection. While the styles are pretty serious and strong, the garments do have a romantic, and sometimes even seductive substory. The underlying lace pieces complement not 1 and not 2 garments; it’s a recurring theme throughout the collection that helps keep the sexiness.
We see a pop of color – fuchsia introduced here and there, adding brightness to the black and white canvas. Would you wear those fuchsia shoes in fall? Those will definitely cheer up the mood under the Berlin rain.
The silhouettes are the most important feature. Bomber jackets over jumpsuits, tuxedo suits, and romantic ruffles make up the main shapes. The strong lines and clean cuts are eased down with pink sequins, gold embroidery. The flower theme appears often, contrasting the strong features of the overall Givenchy pre-fall 2016 collection. Oh, and are those pajamas and bathrobes? Cause I would wear them out to a nice cocktail party.
Every piece extracts a sense of confidence and badassness; it’s a sort of clothing you wear to rock all day, whether you feel like it in the morning or not. It’s real street style, not for the glam and chic crowd, but for free spirits. Yes, especially the flower print on a full body suit.
Smoked leather and lace combo, double faced pleated jersey, architectural denim, and a dalmatian coat ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ you’ve got to have at least one of these in your wardrobe.
