Missoni Pre-Fall 2016 Collection
Angela Missoni has just unveiled the Missoni pre-fall 2016 collection featuring Seventies and Eighties vibes, and the brand’s iconic striped patterns and oversized cuts that keep on making the Italian fashion house stay anchored in traditions. Being at the helm of Missoni since 1997, Angela has never stopped recreating her parents’ evocative psychedelic and geometric patterns since then, but also the brand’s characteristic multi-colored zigzag knitwear pieces that are so Missoni. That’s exactly what we are about to see in the Missoni pre-fall 2016 line-up, too, although this time around, enhanced with edgy sharp cuts and curve-hugging pieces, the collection denotes an interesting stream of consciousness, which started in the mid Seventies and ended up in the Eighties.
While the collection clearly draws inspiration from the hippie culture, brought to life through the floor-length dresses, psychedelic patterns, chunky boots and layered mini dresses, Angela Missoni decided to combine such outfits with Eighties-inspired cuts and lines, which are easily spotted in the structured fur coats and sheer tops. It is indeed an interesting combination of styles, wherein the vibrant color-blocking theme somehow looks kind of futuristic. Perhaps, such a futuristic theme becomes even more vivid due to the extravagant TV screen color distortion motifs, which some of the collection’s key pieces feature.
It is also interesting to note that, unlike all the other pre-fall collections unveiled so far, Missoni keeps on putting great emphasis on the legs, covering the cleavage and the neckline with sophisticated yoke, funnel and band collars. The woman’s silhouette is here enhanced through the fabrics’ elasticity, which delicately hug the figure emphasizing its curves. Moreover, thanks to the line-up’s vertical and horizontal striped patterns, the silhouette looks definitely more slender and perfectly balanced. Missoni’s woman will thus opt for an all-natural look next pre-fall season, wherein perfect clothing combinations celebrating a woman’s silhouette are the sole protagonists along with super-bright colors, including fuchsias, yellows, greens, blues and purples combined.
Socks worn with sandals and chunky boots are once again confirmed as one of the next year’s most featured trends, and have been in translated into Missoni’s own colorful language this line-up, where color-blocking patterns of different shades adorn both the actual shoe and the unique chunky heels.
Last but not least, if you are looking for a statement coat, try wearing Missoni’s oversized trapezoidal striped coat, the cut of which makes it look like sort of a hybrid cape that will make anyone look less stressful after summer Mondays.
