Naomi Campbell Designs a Capsule Collection for Yamamay
Is Naomi Campbell in possession of the real-life version of Dorian Gray’s jealously-guarded picture? It seems so, given the fact that the 45-year-old model is still rocking a toned figure and an almost wrinkleless face. As if it wasn’t enough, Naomi Campbell has just managed to reinvent herself, confirming her position as the supreme high fashion model of all times by becoming the new Yamamay girl and designing a capsule collection for the Italian lingerie brand, which is already available for purchase on the brand’s website.
The British supermodel, who made history becoming the first black model appearing on a French Vogue cover in 1988, has teamed up with the Italian brand designing a 7-piece limited-edition collection, which consists of some sultry panties, slips, bras and camisoles, with the price tags ranging from $32 to $65 (which goes for a kimono-inspired robe). Lensed by Mario Testino, who recently shot the ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§royal’ Burberry campaign and is also in the process of making a ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§Towel Series’, which features many celebrities posing wearing nothing but a white towel, Naomi Campbell also stars in the ads for the Yamamay ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö‚â§IamNaomiCampbell’ capsule collection, looking amazingly stunning.
The collection, the colors of which range from dark shades to red and purple, sees a sensual Naomi Campbell showcasing some made-to-be-seen pieces, which directly take inspiration from the bondage scene brought to life through strategic cut-outs and satin fabrics. Getting seductive in her sheer lace bodysuits, corsets and sheer stockings and suspenders, the legendary model also complements her toned silhouette with an intense smokey eye makeup and a tousled hairdo.
While many models have been reinventing themselves by devoting themselves to an acting career, Naomi Campbell has never actually disappeared from the catwalks. However, like most of her peers such as Kate Moss and Helena Christensen, she also took a chance to slightly step back from the scenes to focus on a new career trying her hand at creative design. Such supermodels have all somehow turned into lingerie designers, either working on an eponymous line (think Elle Macpherson), or collaborating on a capsule collection with a fast fashion company.
Naomi Campbell, who also recently posed for Agent Provocateur’s and La Perla’s campaigns, seems to love doing both at the moment, meaning that she is still full-time working as an A-list supermodel and as a fashion designer. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Italy, Naomi proudly stated that she now loves her body more than ever and that she couldn’t be happier about her career. The only thing she’s missing? A baby.
In Yamamay’s campaign Naomi Campbell appears to be in the best shape, proving us that age doesn’t make any difference when it comes to pursuing our dreams.
