Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2016 Collection ” Paris Fashion Week
Elegant woman with attitude – this is the female type that inspires Lebanon fashion designer Elie Saab to grace the fashion world with luxurious and exquisite pieces thus literally becoming the synonym of opulence. Elie Saab and luxury, luxury and Elie Saab; these tow notions have so much interweaved with each other that maybe some modifications should be made in linguistic dictionaries. Being thoroughly familiar with Elie Saab style and being sure to see again red-carpet-worthy pieces on the runway we somehow got confused when the Elie Saab spring/summer 2016 collection was unveiled yesterday at Paris Fashion Week at the Tuileries Palace.
The spring 2016 will definitely be registered as a turning point in Elie Saab’s aesthetics, a period of palliating its pure luxury, turning to the 21st century young generation, delving into their modern needs and requirements and coming to a very effective conclusion: something should be extracted, something ” inserted. These plus-minus operations definitely did a smart job to it and the young socialites are now sure to be opting for the perfect lace gown to make an appearance at a special event.
However, Elie Saab himself did not consider the new lineup to be a deviation from his full-blooded style. He objected to the ubiquitous opinion, stating, “It’s not different, it’s the same. But the mix is different.’ Indeed the new Elie Saab spring 2016 collection fructified a range of lace and semi-sheer gowns that felt authentic whatever Elie Saab mixed them with, say, a bomber jacket borrowed from a different ultra-modern brand but then we recalled that it was Elie Saab runway show and everything from head to toe was its ownership.
Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, the two most brilliant representatives of the young generation, and typical contemporary It girls, who are active Instagram users and style icons, had been pertinently selected by the eveningwear fancier to introduce his fresh pieces to their coevals. Being known for his monochromic ensembles, this time around Elie Saab decided to play with colors and act with some effective colorblock solutions. Gigi Hadid catwalked wearing a sapphire blue lace tiered dress styled with a candy-striped bomber jacket. She was holding a tiny red clutch, while her tender feet were feeling super-comfy and stylish in a pair of elegant sandals. Kendal Jenner was also in the same style, rocking the runway in a black lace baby doll dress with a floral bomber jacket worn over it and black gladiator sandals complementing the look. A blue clutch with metallic chain was romantically swinging in her hand.
The collection was true to Elie Saab’s signature lace with semi-sheer effect. Black and white lace had been tailored into a range of elegant gowns, baby dolls and lingerie style dresses with abruptly different designs. An all-white lace dress with pussy bow, an intimate black pajama suit with a robe or a white floor-sweeping dress with puffed long sleeves, Gigi Hadid’s second appearance in a diaphanous flaring dress with pussy bow and keyhole neckline and Kendal’s finale mind-blowing richly-beaded pantsuit with plunging neckline, circular sleeves and a flaring mantel flaunting behind were effectively replenished with brand new floral-appliqued pieces.
A handful of high-low frocks like a colorful wide-striped one or a floral-field-imitating one were making some windy effects right on the runway with their smoke-like tails. The red one-sleeve dress with asymmetrical hems and layered structure could undeniably become a red-carpet decorator while a strapless red pantsuit was an elegant It girl’s must-have piece.
So much was Elie Saab’s desire to pamper young ladies that he did something absolutely anti-Saab. Hold tight! A white tracksuit with black sporty stripes matched with a floral pussy bow shirt is sure to become your new guilty pleasure!
