Edie Campbell Launches a Patch Collection With Christabel MacGreevy
In the world of the ever-changing fashion trends it is very hard to keep up and not to loose personal individuality on the way, so it’s where customizing your day-to-day outfits comes in handy. To help you add a dose of attitude to your daily looks, supermodel Edie Campbell and artist Christabel MacGreevy have designed a jocular patch collection, offering a fun way of personalizing your favorite pair of jeans or a simple T-shirt. After all, it is the small details that can change a lot in your look. With the obsession of using unique patches to stand out quickly taking the lead in the fashion world, the two creative minds bring their one-of-a-kind creations under the name of Itchy Scratchy Patchy, inspired by the ’90s.
Edie Campbell’s patch collection with Christabel MacGreevy brings depictions of bodybuilders in swimsuits, funny almost naked dancing figures in knickers and much more, some of which are embellished with fringed edges, while others come woven in more complex patterns and textures to emphasize the story told in the designs. As MacGreevy explains, the idea was to create humorous illustrations that would “in some way relevant to contemporary life.’ The iron-on patches can look particularly good on different denim pieces, like jeans, denim skirts or jean jackets. The more suitable parts of the clothing to use the patches on would probably be the front and back pockets, the hems and the sleeves, however the idea of patching is in breaking the laws, so most probably this eccentric detail will look even more daring and cooler on the most unexpected pieces. After all it is about switching “ON’ the creativity and turning “OFF’ the rules.
The designers of the Itchy Scratchy Patchy patches hope that their creations will revive the DIY spirit, the art of dressing in an effortless manner. “I felt that I, myself, and lots of my friends had accidentally become quite grown up in the way we dressed, tasteful in a slightly uninspiring way. So Itchy Scratchy Patchy was a way of bringing a lightness and an enjoyment back to clothes,’ explains Campbell. In its own ingenious way, Itchy Scratchy Patchy is struggling against the unrealistically perfect airbrushed looks, instead encouraging creating effortless and fun outfits.
The collection got officially launched on September 25th, though we have seen Bella Hadid, Stella Maxwell and other friends of the creative duo sporting the fun patches during the latest international fashion weeks. Campbell finds their creations fun and we have spotted her wear her own designs more than once in her Instagram snapshots.
Itchy Scratchy Patchy will most probably bring a complete new culture of wearing the most casual items customized by the owner. The patches are for those, who want to follow the latest trends but never get too obsessed staying effortless and chic. Luckily there is more to come from the witty duo, as they themselves encourage us to “stay tuned for all sorts of silly surprises served up by the Itchy Scratchy Patchy team!’
