Sasha Pivovarova the Alberta Ferretti Queen for Fall 2015
The fairies are dancing! At least that is the feeling we get when we look at Sasha Pivovarova as she appears all mystical creature like for the Alberta Ferretti fall 2015 collection campaign. She is the queen of the ball here, or at least the fairy ball and looks gorgeous while wearing designs inspired by the Italian Renaissance. This includes lovely high necklines, flared skirts and a whole slew of luxurious embroideries that give the Lady Sasha a noble feel. There is a good amount of romance throughout the collection, and the fairy tales from our childhood certainly make a comeback in a totally new dimension thus.
Italian fashion designer and dressmaker Alberta Ferretti is known for her ethereal collections that do much to capture the beauty of a woman’s inner soul, presenting her as a princess, a noblewoman, a queen, as well as she should be. With her first boutique opened in 1968, Ferretti has certainly become a household name, especially when considering outfits and garments reminiscent of decades or centuries past. She’s gone from Great Gatsby to special toga renditions that take us back to ancient times. It is no surprise that we would pick the Italian Renaissance as her muse for this particular collection that includes darker colors and a seductive taste.
We have seen quite a few fall collections to date but not one quite so in tune with the era it is meant to represent. Of course, there is a very modern aspect to it as well, while also relying on some of the major trends that have swept the fashion world this year, but all in all, we see something utterly deductive in the eyes of the sultry Alexandra “Sasha’ Pivovarova, the 30-year-old Russian model, top in the world as she has worked alongside the infamous Kate Moss, appearing as the face of Giorgio Armani in 2009 alone. She’s opened shows for Rag & Bone, Rodarte, Pringle for Scotland, Shiatzy Chen, Miss Sixty, and Max Mara, while walking for or closing Christian Dior, Chanel, Elie Saab, Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier and many others. The lady is on fire, making her acting debut of late alongside Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried, during In Time. With her blue eyes and perfect features, she can dazzle anyone she wishes and so she has done, both on the runways and on the screen.
This time around, it is Alberta Ferretti who has gained from the model’s intrinsic charm, showing her off in gauzy see-through lace embroidered shirts with high necks, schoolgirl style dresses pulled over the shirts and tight leggings below, allowing for very little skin to show. Of course, what would be a shirt made in 2015 if it doesn’t allow for one to peek right through it, which is exactly why Ferretti’s included modern elements that allow just enough skin to be seen through without actually baring the body to the world. Lace and embroidery, skirts and jackets and lovely shirts that show off just enough are most definitely our cup of tea.
