Emilio Pucci Resort 2016 Collection
While most creative designers debut their creations for a certain fashion house mostly on the runway during the much-awaited fashion weeks, MSGM’s Massimo Giorgetti, who has recently been appointed as the creative director of Emilio Pucci after Peter Dundas’ departure, didn’t make us wait too long and launched his first collection for the fashion house for the cruise season. The Emilio Pucci resort 2016 collection is described as a “pilot episode’ by the designer and it does bring the same playful and youthful spirit the founder of MSGM loves to experiment with. It’s a totally new Emilio Pucci, an eccentric and quirky one, absolutely different from what Peter Dundas shaped during his tenure at the brand. Unlike Dundas’ sexy approach, Giorgetti’s Emilio Pucci woman loves to play with risqué styles and interesting clothing combinations while feeling and looking maximum effortless and comfy.
Abstract and creative shapes are the first thing attracting attention throughout the Emilio Pucci resort 2016 lineup. We see an off-the-shoulder classic shirt in a baby blue coloring that looks so creative and one-of-a-kind, coming matched with a pair of checkered colorful high-waist tailored pants, a see-through black slipdress with fabulous confetti embroidery that’s topping a pastel yellow shirt, wrap skirts with bow belts, abstract side-buttoned silk shirts with interesting prints and laser-cut coats. Every single piece in this collection comes packed with a high dose of uniqueness and abstract motifs, lots of bold colors and cartoonish patterns, making the Pucci woman so much more youthful, fun and at times insane this resort season. The obvious sexuality that Peter Dundas worked is no longer there, but instead we are treated to a sizzling mishmash of modern, abstract, masculine and feminine fashions, which make one ponder on the limit of fantasy Giorgetti can have.
Textural plays have been used to the same extent as Giorgetti’s favorite bold color combos and prints. Leather is interestingly combined with silk, while we also see an abundance of 3D embellishments including fringe, embroidered lace with Pucci’s logo motifs and see-through fabrics adorned with mind-blowing abstract human figure patterning. Alongside feminine dresses and skirts, the collection also brings mannish tailored trousers, baggy and effortless looking chic when combined with those creative blouses and the comfy flat sandals.
Giorgetti knows the importance of powerful accessories, as besides dazzling with his innovative fashion pieces, he also focused on creating statement-making accessories, particularly exquisite handbags with lots of 3D embellishments and the revamped Pucci logo. The footwear was kept in the comfort zone, as we mostly saw masculine Oxford shoes in different shades and designs, as well as flat sandals standing out with their simplicity and the attention to small details. Add logo-printed belts and oversized sunglasses to the list and you have a range of cool accessories that will instantly elevate your day-to-day and party looks.
“It’s an homage to Florence ‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë‚àö√Ü past, present and future coexist in the collection,’ he described the idea behind his out-of-this world creations and we saw Florence in every bit of his creations. The famous brand has become really fun thanks to Giorgetti and we can’t wait for his first ready-to-wear line to be unveiled later in September during Milan Fashion Week!
