Hair and Makeup Inspirations from Cannes Film Festival 2015

The Cannes Film Festival 2015 gave us more than just a look into the world of clothing fashion trends. Technically, it is supposed to be for the movies, but generally rarely is, since the gorgeous looks of the star celebrities from around the world take up all the attention the media seems to have to give. There are fewer articles about the awards and the films themselves than on what each individual was wearing, which Very Important Person was present at the event and how the ladies were all acting. Forget about best actress awards and best short films, best screenplays and best documentaries; it is time to check out the best dresses, the best suits, the best hairstyles and makeup at the Cannes 2015, particularly focusing on that first point. After all, it is not every day that you see actresses looking like the modern doppelgangers of royalty from the Ming Dynasty. There is just something rather enchanting about each and every lady’s look as she steps onto the red carpet and shines bright in the night sky. The Cannes Film Festival 2015 would be lacking in glamour without it.

Hair and Makeup Inspirations from Cannes Film Festival 2015

Looking at the gorgeous stars on the red carpet, we should mention some of those rather inspiring hair and makeup trends that were noticed at the infamous invite-only event. We have picked out some of the loveliest looks in this department and hope this will give you a nice taste of all that was experienced within the last 48 hours. Which was your favourite look?

Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita has really been making waves in the fashion industry of late. The dark skinned beauty looked positively luscious with her fuchsia lipstick all glossy and pretty, amplifying the green of her dress. Her lashes were long and sultry, while her hair was pulled back into a royal princess style bun, smoothed back from the crown and held in place with a headed headband, dark green and white matched with the light green and blushing white of the dress. She looked spectacular to say the least and that pearly smile just makes her prettier.

Doutzen Kroes

It appears the Heavens have opened up and dropped to earth an Angel, so stunning as Doutzen Kroes. With her Atelier Versace dress she stunned the world, while her feline smoky eyes, her mussed up but strangely perfect chignon and the falling strands around her face made her seem like an innocent princess with some awesome hidden powers underneath. Kroes is an Angel with personality and messing with this lady is never the recommended route to take.

Julianne Moore

Have you ever seen Julianne Moore look anything less than positively stunning? Yeah, neither have we. Between her dress and her jewellery, we were enthralled by that evil witch demeanour, but it’s how she wore her hair in a side slicked updo, her lips pretty in the nude, her eyes smoky and focused on the lashes that really had us falling head over heels in love with all that she defines. Age means nothing if you can look as good as Moore, and that is something she has proven time and again, even if red lipstick suits her a lot more than the nude version she had opted for.

Charlize Theron

As usual, Charlize Theron looked stunning beyond belief, even with hair that took on a rather unconventional styling. Of course, since she is a lady through and through, the deviation from the norm was slight, barely noticeable, but certainly there in her hair. It was worn in a pretty updo with a curled fringe, slightly retro with the styling at the front, a finger curl falling over the side of the face. Her eyes were defined with subtle metallic, her lashes contrasting perfectly against the powdered background, while her lips were a nice glossy pink.

Sienna Miller

The heavens have sent us impeccable beauty. Sienna Miller was something out of a Hollywood story, some damsel in distress that would need saving in a hot action movie. She was perfection and elegance combined, a lady hidden under the dress and the makeup and the hair, a neat bob giving her a lovely accent while the rose colored lipstick had its own awesome effect on our senses.

Bar Refaeli

We do not really hear too much about Bar Rafaeli, but she is certainly a beautiful girl in her own right, looking even lovely on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. She looked fresh and sweet, without caked on makeup and a mask of color that would hide the lovely glowing skin she had bared thus. Her lashes were curled, her lips lightly stained and her hair pulled back into a ponytail without the fuss, strands and tendrils flying away here and there. She looked lovely and that is very much a fact.

Hofit Golan

With her dress, she was a princess. Hofit Golan attended the Cannes Film Festival 2015 looking like the star she is, her hair pulled back from a center part, teased in the back for volume and turned into a rather lovely chignon, held in place with some lovely accessories. Her lips were red, eyes slightly on the smoky side, but it was her contrasting brows that caught our attention, dark brown versus the blonde of her hair. She still looked lovely!

Karlie Kloss

She wore her hair loose, in gentle waves that had us thinking about the days on the beach and the shore not far from where the festival was held. There was something about the way Karlie Kloss carried herself, her shimmering dress testament to her incredible sense of style, her makeup focused on the nudes and the blush tones in order to give her that beach mermaid sun kissed look. There is just something about the way she had contoured that made her features all the more prominent and brought the gaze to those lovely eyes instead.

Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts did what Naomi Watts does best… she wowed the audience completely. She knocked us off our feet, had us sitting as we watched her glide down the runway with her pretty silvery grey dress and her perfect hair and makeup. Actually, her cosmetic application was probably even better than that dress! Hair swept back into a chignon, lips pink and eyes a smoky dark grey, she looked fantastic for the event!

Aymeline Valade

There is a whole different beauty class connected with Amelyne Valade. Per pearls were perfect against her skin, but her lithe body translates also into a longer face that was made prettier with a sleek updo and barely-there makeup, lips pretty in dusty pink, eyes barely lines, brows darker than her light blonde hair at the crown. She was very pretty, in a child that has grown up too quick kind of way.
