H&M Stepping Into the Beauty Industry
There is something big happening in the beauty industry and we are so very excited to hear the news. Everyone’s favourite Swedish retailer has taken the cosmetics world by storm and there is nothing out there that we can think of that would stop this crazy whirlwind of an occurrence. It has launched its own line catering to the beautification of the face of a woman, its initial rollout being massive enough for no other company to be able to complete for a long time still! Can you imagine? The initial rollout of the H&M cosmetics line includes 700 beauty products alone. We are flabbergasted, we are thoroughly mystified, but more than anything, our excitement is almost physically palpable! That is a huge feat and for H&M to move from offering anything and everything when it comes to women’s clothing under the sun and moon turns to ensuring to lady will have to go to another store to find her cosmetics as well, we really have to give the international retailer major props. We will be seeing the H&M beauty collection come fall 2015, in stores the world over as well as sold online.
To date, we have seen many a collaboration done by H&M and major celebrities, including Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant. H&M, despite being known as the affordable clothing superstore that one can find anything imaginable for a really reasonable price point at, has also been clothing top celebrities on the red carpet, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Mara, Solange Knowles and Helen Hunt.
It may sound funny, but an organic, eco-friendly subsidiary collection is also in the works, along with a premium line of “fashion for the face’ products. There will be many nail shades included in the H&M beauty line as well, ranging from the bold to the bright and the fashionably glamorous. It appears retailers like Sephora need to be watching their backs as H&M will have over 1000 different SKUs by the end of the first batch release, all of them ranging from $2.99 to $24.99 in retail pricing. That is way lower than what most sell them for and if H&M is found to be carrying quality cosmetics for that cost, then it appears as if the beauty industry has a shark to contend with.
What is most interesting is the organic products that are EcoCert certified and paraben, silicone, GMO, Synthetic fragrance and dye free, with the packaging for the products having as little effect on the environment as the rest has on our skins. We are impatiently awaiting this release and expect the budget-friendly cosmetics to sell like hotcakes as soon as they hit the stores. With the retailer seeming to be doing everything right of late, this is just another major splash in the ocean it has created for itself, free of all but the major competitors. Between the lotions and the polishes, the bronzers and the body washes, among all the other incredible pieces from the line-up, we are sure that there will be something for everyone.
