Jil Sander Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – Milan Fashion Week
The Jil Sander fall/winter 2015-2016 collection presented on the Milan Fashion Week runway is probably one of the best tailored lines we’ve seen to date. It’s not the more alluring and it certainly is not the most memorable, but it surely is among the best when it comes to looking especially professional when we, as women, walk into the office Monday morning. This was the sophomore womenswear shoe for designer Rodolfo Paglialunga, with the focus being brought to the long and lean looks, beautifully accented throughout with central clusters of square columns. The minimalistic and modern designs along with the expert tailoring of the pieces are quite appealing to the senses of a woman, who knows how to look fashionably stylish in all spheres of her life, from her career to her home, her lazy Sundays and on-the-go motherhood moments.
The color play in itself was rather interesting and quite daring, bringing in lighter and brighter shades in color blocks and layering of different monochrome designs. There was a pretty graphic use of line work as well so that we were given a nice taste of grid patterns on the outerwear. We probably really fell in love when we got to the second piece of the line-up, which included a forest green blazer over a white plunging V neckline silk shirt tucked into blue trousers with a high waist and a suede belt to hold it up, the feet clad in shiny black leather. That dark green coloring looked really nice throughout, as well as the royal blue, the bright burnt orange, the sunshine yellow, the lighter grass green and the stark white with the pure black. The black and white pairings were certainly a sight to behold as the high neck with pastel purple ruffling at the edge fell into a sheath dress with a side slit up the thigh, the hemline at the middle of the calves and mock pockets placed along the waist in white trim. The orange lace ankle boots definitely spice up such a garment quite nicely, adding a touch of fun to the chic and sophisticated.
Overall, the looks that were presented included many pantsuits or trouser with blazer combinations, as well as some wraparound pieces, a few skirts falling to the calves and a few dresses in black that we can certainly see making their way onto the red carpet sometime soon. Since there is a slight focus on slip dresses as well, it seems only fitting to see one such garment in black, falling to mid-calf, with translucent edges at the chest, walked down the runway. The pretty peep toe heels in black and white that matched the dress are certainly footwear styles we covet at the moment. Most of the footwear in this collection is a must-have, from the colors to the styling, the boots to the ankle strap shoes. One particular piece that captures the interest of the onlooker is the black base with the white body lace up ankle boot that somehow reminds us of olden days and more stylish times.
