Moschino Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – Milan Fashion Week
Moschino is known for being a luxury fashion house and anticipations were high as the show was queued to begin, showing off the ready to wear collection of the Italian brand on the Milan Fashion Week catwalk. The late Franco Moschino would have been quite proud of his handiwork should he have seen today’s showcase of talent on the runway as Jeremy Scott brought to the public’s notice the Moschino fall/winter 2015-2016 collection. He may be an American, but he’s done wonders for the Italian fashion house of late.
The show was set up to have a large speaker in the background, Moschino written out quite clearly against the bottom. And then the first of the looks appeared with a large blue bubble jacket, orange boots and lots of color, only to be followed by blues, greens and oranges time and again. It seems as if the Hip Hop world and street art were the major inspirations and the purple bodysuit might have been enough to convince us of that fact. A yellow bustier with matching culottes sounds intriguing enough as well, while the black pieces seemed almost out of place in this vibrant and colorful collection. So many bags appeared on the runway though, from backpacks to little purses, funky designs and
The Looney Toons made their own appearance with five T-shirt dresses with long sleeves showing off the main characters quite nicely, the models walking in together. A sports jersey with Bugs Bunny on the front and painted across the handbag followed before the Tasmanian devil had his time on the stage with a baseball jersey in sexy form. Sylvester and Daffy made it out as well in carrying pieces that define the Looney Toons characters, with matching bags that immortalize our favourite childhood cartoon characters.
Lots of bling happened to walk out onto the runway, with chains and gilded patch pants, shirtdresses in similar style and golden link belts coming into place. The bandeaus were gilded along with the pumps. A padlock purse was one of the many funkier style handbags, along with a graffiti suitcase. Bears appear on the runway too, placed onto gilded earrings and printed on sweater dresses, on hooded zip ups and on the different sized handbags.
Crop tops and midi skirts in denim walked down the runway and really brought the A-game to the party with their chic hip hop styles. Of course, it wasn’t just stuck to the midis either with lots of miniskirts coming into play as well as jumpsuits. We saw some plunging necklines along with the tube tops, accessorized heavily with gilded chains. Graffiti dresses looked pretty amazing themselves, particularly the white number that fell to the floor, a slip of a dress with a plunging V neckline.
The street culture had quite the influence on the pieces presented tonight and we couldn’t be happier with the results. It was, without a doubt, one of the most interesting collections on the runway, even if we wonder about where on earth we would be wearing most of these. We do look forward to seeing some of those evening gowns along the final pieces of the Moschino fall/winter 2015-2016 collection appear on the red carpet soon enough though, even if they might be a little too much for the average person heading out for a night on the town.
