Victoria Beckham Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – New York Fashion Week
English businesswoman, fashion designer, model and singer Victoria Caroline Beckham definitely makes a splash during the New York Fashion Week with her newly minted Victoria Beckham fall/winter 2015-2016 collection shown off on the runway and displaying lean and long legs for the world to enjoy. Those of us with the shorter legs might be looking on with a bit of scepticism, but that is not to say that we aren’t head over heels in love with the whole of the line-up that the gorgeous former Spice Girl and now designer wife to David Beckham has pulled together. The 40-year-old mother of four is a force to be reckoned with, without a doubt in that respect. With her eponymous label launched back in 2008, Victoria Beckham has been a permanent fixture for the New York Fashion Week runway shows since 2011.
The Victoria Beckham fall 2015 fashion line began with the dresses. The sexy yet strict hourglass figure with the zip-up back but otherwise fully covered up look. Though she had strayed off this path for the past bit, Beckham has given in to her fan base and turned the time back to when her dresses were not so boxy and her pieces not so masculine. We are back to the ultra-feminine and loving every second of the show as featured on the runway. She has shifted with the times, of course, and brought into play the 2015 trending plunging necklines and midi length skirt hems. Fabrics are hitched to one hip and draping asymmetry the motif that appeared the most along the way. We have ribbed chenille tops that twist around the torso, while the skirts got a wraparound before kneeing knotted at the waist. Some pieces even appeared to be three dimensional puzzled that utilized a few different swatches of fabric to concoct a spectacularly Victoria Beckham style design.
In terms of the outerwear, it appeared as if they created the armour over the dresses and pieces that accentuated the body’s curves underneath. Exaggerated storm flaps, stand-up collars, sculptured pannier-like shapes on the hips; we found them all in this collection, ensuring the woman who decides to purchase the garment that it is an investment piece that will last you a long time. It’s always good to see designers learning from their customers and giving them what the women who make up the client base for the brand demand. Beckham certainly shows off her ability in doing just that, catering to the wants and needs of her fans worldwide.
Black, white, blue, brown, orange, yellow and grey all make an appearance on the runway, but the majority of the pieces are in black and white, as well as an overwhelming amount of darker blues. With 34 pieces in the collection, Victoria Beckham had our eyes glued to the models that presented each fabulous garment after the other, each new piece even more beautiful than the last. They may have been minimalistic, but it is in that that the beauty lies. Chances are that most women will prefer to wear a dress in a single color block and accent with accessories instead of going for a kaleidoscope of mismatching palettes that some designers seem to love to create. In essence, there was nothing not to love about this particular Posh Spice collection.
