See by Chloe Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Collection – New York Fashion Week
Chloe has officially released its See by Chloe fall/winter 2015-2016 collection and we are bubbling over with happiness. See is a secondary line owned by Chloe, which in itself is a subsidiary to the Richemont Swiss based luxury goods holding company, though originally founded back in 1952 by Gaby Aghion and Jacques Lenoir. Today, German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, creative director for Chanel and the Italian House of Fendi, is still known as one of the key influential people to have ever worked for Chloe. Lagerfeld, in essence, was the one who made Chloe one of the more symbolic brands of the 1970s, bringing gin Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot, Maria Callas and Grace Kelly in as the brand’s biggest customers.
The fashion house has 5 major sections it caters to, including ready-to-wear and fragrances, while the ‘See by Chloe’ label is the younger line that has been in existence since 2001 and targets a younger generation of fashion lovers, bringing more affordability to the sophistication of its styles. We’re talking about RTW, handbags, and accessories that are catered towards the teenager and young adult. The See by Chloe fall/winter 2015-2016 RTW collection, especially has a rather unique feel to it, rather enjoying taking its ideas from Wes Anderson’s 2001 cult film called “The Royal Tenenbaums.’ Gwyneth Paltrow’s character Margot Tenenbaum certainly has a stir created among the fashion industry, with Clare Waight Keller envisioning the perfect model for the collection as a French student, who loves the library and shows off an incredible fashion sense along with her intelligence.
The whole of the collection is intriguing, with even a print of vines and leopards looking as if it has been taken straight from a painting from the film. There’s something of Sorbonne to the aura conveyed, as if the chill is coming off the Seine and the Chloe girl bundles herself against the sting of it. Big scarves and nubby sweaters, button-down poplins and pussy-bow blouses, big ponchos and shabby peacoats; we saw them all in this recreation of a very ’70s French world. Colors seemed to focus on mustard yellows and peachy hues, navy coloring and pops of tangerine among the camel hide that appears along the way. There is obviously a focus on the sex appeal as well as the stylishness, both of which make Chloe one of the most coveted brands on the market. Comfort is most certainly the greatest luxury of all and the See by Chloe fall 2015 collection certainly indulged in the warmth of this design.
Think schoolgirl with lots of sass on her way to class. She’s wearing a black knit turtleneck, her arms clad in fingerless gloves, a pretty tartan kilt in softly muted coloring draped over the legs, showing off just enough skin to still be appropriate for school but also stir the imagination; you have the knee-high boots and the camel colored poncho thrown over for added warmth. All in all, it is a gorgeous schoolgirl look that will probably find itself replicated time and again over the colder upcoming seasons‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√ë¬¨‚àÇ not that we’re keen on thinking about that.
Darker colors certainly rule the collection for the most part, but it’s a good thing that the designer has not forgotten about the floral print patterning that has taken the 2015 year by storm. This is presented in equally muted coloring against a billowing midi length dress or button-down shirt, the latter matched with well-tailored darker denim and the former with thigh high stockings and knee-high boots. It’s a good look and one, which definitely should be considered for our closets come the cooler days of 2015.
