British Fashion Awards 2014 Red Carpet Fashion
The fashion industry is always up to no good, juggling an impeccable fashion sense with roguish behaviour. That’s what we love about the stylish designs that appear every season, leaving those from the past lost in the shadows but bringing the retro into the limelight as the latest in mesmerizing glamour. Of course, it would be hard to imagine a world without fashion so it goes without saying that fashion awards are as much a necessity in the industry as the Fantasy Bras highlighting a Victoria’s Secret Runway Show. The British Fashion Awards are one of the oldest and most prestigious awards ceremonies held throughout the year, having become tradition since 1989. The main awards granted during the British Fashion Awards 2014 include that of British Designer of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Fashion, Red Carpet Award, and Designer Brand of the Year, as well as so many others, including awards to the ‘most-fashionable’ celebrities in various fields.
This year, the London Coliseum played host for the prestigious awards ceremony, with so many esteemed guests in attendance, from the nominees to the winners of the many awards. Everyone from Tom Ford to Victoria Beckham, Rihanna to Cara Delevingne was present on the runway. Kate Moss was seen having donned a printed mini dress, while Poppy Delevingne turned head with her mesh Topshop dress. Check out the best moments of the British Fashion Awards 2014 red carpet fashion that famous celebrities and models showcased yesterday night!
1. Cara Delevingne at British Fashion Awards 2014
Model of the Year went to the beautiful Cara Delevingne who’s been making quite an appearance on the runways of late. She strode into the awards ceremony in a gorgeous shimmering bespoke Burberry dress with a thigh-high slit and impeccably sexy Christian Louboutin heels. The gorgeous lady was positively radiant on the red carpet, glowing inside and out. The elegance of the dress with its sensual edge and bold combination of black contrasting fabric against a mostly silver shimmering garment certainly outshone the rest throughout the night.
2. Rihanna at British Fashion Awards 2014
Rihanna’s certainly made herself the talk of the town with her near naked appearance in only a Stella McCartney jacket dressed up with Jessica McCormack diamond earrings. There is something rather Pretty Woman-esque about her appearance as it seems she has left the apartment of a late night lover with an oversized jacket to cover her assets and nothing else but sheer dark stockings and strappy heels. Positively risqué and entirely too delicious a look to gloss over! Rihanna’s one star, who ensures the limelight is placed right over her head.
3. Victoria Beckham at British Fashion Awards 2014
Victoria Beckham’s one sparkly style icon that has surprisingly gone rather Puritan on us these days if yesterday’s awards ceremony is any indication. The black and white is rather captivating with its stark contrast and the high neck, mid sleeve and long skirts are part of her own eponymous label, rather reminiscent of days gone by. It’s a fashionable twist to an old classic, reminding us that women belong in the kitchen‚Äö√Ñ√∂‚àö√묨‚àÇ except Beckham’s on the runway and looking like the strong businesswoman we have always known her to be. The mixed signals are as much of a contrast as her dress colors. Interesting to say the least and we may just want to try it out ourselves.
4. Joan Smalls at British Fashion Awards 2014
While Victoria Beckham went for the more demure classics and covered up, many of the stars like Rihanna and Joan Smalls went for a decidedly uncovered, almost naked look. While Rihanna’s outfit spoke about improper liaisons however, the Tom Ford dress Smalls was wearing on that carpet was certainly nothing close to the glamorous lady of the night look. Instead, she was one femme fatale that looked as if she could burn through a whole glacier herself. Revealing half the body is fun, especially when instead of the classic mini dress, you opt for a midi but ensure the body-hugging fabric has a slit so high it barely covers any leg, followed by holes cut along the sides, revealing skin without it looking too improper, and finishing off with an extremely deep neckline plunge that presents ample curves to the world without appearing to be too trashy. There’s certain elegance to this Tom Ford dress and Joan Smalls couldn’t look more dangerously lovely.
5. Olivia Palermo at British Fashion Awards 2014
It girl Olivia Palermo knows how to stun on any occasion, who this time appeared at the awards ceremony in the most sumptuous black and yellow outfit we have seen of late, perfectly elegant and entirely too appealing. The beautiful style icon knows what suits her figure well, tantalizing the senses in a woven black top tucked into a lemon satin floor-length skirt with a super-high slit that requires neither the show of skin nor excessive adornments to seduce those around her. There is something to be said about seeing such elegance on the red carpet after the revealing styles sported by Rihanna and Joan Smalls.
6. Naomi Campbell at British Fashion Awards 2014
Naomi Campbell looked super stunning in an Alexander McQueen full gown that fit her figure like a glove, giving a rather dark mermaid-like vibe. The top of the dress appears to be inspired by bondage, while more tastefully assembled to bring out the bold and the beautiful in the women donning the dress. The English model was seen mingling with Rihanna and Cara Delevingne during the awards ceremony and the trio made for quite a sight! It’s no wonder she’s been known to steal the show time and again. The supermodel’s got style and sass and her bold beauty radiated on the carpet throughout the night.
7. Tamsin Egerton at British Fashion Awards 2014
Speaking about mermaids, Tamsin Egerton really wowed the fashion scene with her Natasha Zinko fitted top and flared bottom midi skirt, complete with strappy black heels and a Nathalie Trad clutch. The red peplum skirt definitely caught many an eye as the actress walked tall and proud. She’s no damsel in distress this one, but she isn’t showing off her bold nature either. Instead, she looks positively chic, positively radiant and, without a doubt, like the star that she is. Plus, she’s partying it right up with the likes of Rihanna and Emma Watson, the latter of which has been making her own headlines as of late. It appears Watson’s turned out to be quite the spokesperson for women everywhere.
8. Mollie King at British Fashion Awards 2014
Since we’re still on the topic of mythical creatures from the sea, and it appears there’s much in terms of mermaid inspiration during the awards ceremony, Mollie Elizabeth King sashayed in wearing a Patricia Bonaldi gown of spectacular design, with the ocean foam made jealous with the tulle and embroidery work on this enchanting piece. The lovely lady had donned LeiVanKash jewelry as well, while strappy black heels provided for a mysterious bit of contrast against the golden misty fog of revealing fabric the singer-songwriter was encased in.
9. Kendall Jenner at British Fashion Awards 2014
Rising fashion model Kendall Jenner looked positively dashing in her elegant strapless black and white jumpsuit that showed off just the right amount of skin, hugged her impeccable silhouette, and brought out the bronze tint of her skin. Bright red lipstick, a gorgeous sleek center-part ‘do, mesh heels and a funky little clutch were all part of completing her lovely look. She appeared on the red carpet like a pretty lady and we have been swooning over her look since.
10. Suki Waterhouse at British Fashion Awards 2014
We may have begun with some of the most revealing gowns, but this last favourite of ours from the British Fashion Awards 2014 ceremony is the lovely Suki Waterhouse, who suddenly appeared in a see-through ruffled blue Burberry Prorsum layered dress that left us awestruck with its more flirtatious design. We’re not talking Victoria Beckham’s Puritan look, nor are we considering Mollie King’s enchanting mermaid gown. This is more of a Disney princess look, complete with the top bow, minimal makeup and chiffon fabric that illustrates every last bit of the feminine figure with class. Between the hair, the dress and the gait with which she walked the red carpet, all we can think of is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. We’re just hoping there’s no curse she must undo with her love!
