Giambattista Valli Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – Paris Fashion Week
Born in one of the most historical cities of the world, Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli has his roots and the ancient Italian culture to draw inspiration from. Art, cinema and French fashion have all served as a source of inspiration for the designs of the luxury Paris-based fashion house. The creations of the brand are elegant, light, full of romance and possess a hint of hidden sexuality. Sophistication, originality, luxury, beautiful and clear cuts and, of course, the high quality have always been the most distinctive traits of the clothes, shoes and accessories Giambattista Valli creates. No wonder, our breath was taken away by the romantic and spectacular Giambattista Valli spring/summer 2015 collection!
The Giambattista Valli spring/summer 2015 collection parade started with an invasion of white into Paris catwalk. The pieces, however, were not monochrome and were adorned with florals and patterns in black or light purple. We had miniskirts with frontal slits decorated with subtle florals, all white pants patched with a stripe of brown and matching sleeveless tops, long sleeveless tops with slits on the front, small cropped jackets worn over floral decorated A-line dresses and so on. Valli had also made a wide use of fringes: all-white dresses were covered in black, white petal-like fringes, cropped sleeveless tops in white were teamed with all-fringy miniskirts, several skirts had their hems in fringes and we even saw black and white/ all-white dresses covered in fringy layers. Using a very subtle shade of purple, Italian designer had created gorgeously romantic tops and skirts, and also a unique collared coatdress with multiple pockets.
At the second stage of the show, the patterns became more intricate and even chaotic; the color palette acquired some new shades of blue and maroon. Here the dresses were mostly short, designed as if of several pieces of material (all-black, all-white, floral or fringy). Valli had also designed unique, short cape-like jackets that when worn over dresses, made the looks even more ethereal and exquisite.
The parade of the dresses, however, ended in ankle length evening gowns, which again featured the main trends brought by the new Giambattista Valli collection: subtle florals, carefully arranged fringes and the combination of black, white and pale purple. As for pants, they were mostly straight and combined with matching tops. Particularly interesting were all-white high waisted pants that had black and brown stripes patched on one leg. Similar color pattern and design was seen on the collared blouse the pants had been paired with.
To add some edge to the looks, Valli had used short, almost neck choker necklaces with flat round pedants mostly in blue. For footwear, we saw high heels and high heels only: high heeled strappy sandals (note the charming chain decorations on straps and heels) and simple black/white pumps.
The Giambattista Valli spring/summer 2015 collection turned out to be rather crisp and elegant, but not too strict. The pieces were designed in some of the most gorgeous color combinations, and although there was too much detail, the designs never became overwhelming and stayed easy on the eye throughout the whole collection.
