Antonio Marras Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – Milan Fashion Week
On this pretty Milan afternoon the eyes of the fashionistas all around the world turned to Antonio Marras, another celebrated Italian designer who too presented his stunning Antonio Marras spring/summer 2015 collection on the Italian fashion runway. You can hardly call Antonio Marras clothes everyday, as they are a bit too aristocratic and glamorous to be called that. Antonio loves for his creations to reflect his Italian roots and we see a small piece of Italy in almost all of his designs. He is a devoted fan of retro symbolism, ancient motifs and ethnic accents. Many pieces from his collections are adorned with embroidery and hand-decorated.
However, the Antonio Marras spring/summer 2015 collection was not entirely what we were expecting, to put it mildly. Gone was the strict elegance we had seen in previous Antonio Marras collections, and more playful and jolly Antonio Marras collection was presented to us.
The collection was colorfully bright and the bicycles providing the backdrop along with white and red stripes on many of the pieces reminded us of “Where’s Waldo” series of books (was this another reference to the American pop culture?). The color palette included was based on the contrast of red/maroon with various colors such as white, blue and orange.
The dresses presented were mainly loose fitting with some of them adorned with colorful floral cutouts and prints. We also saw sleeveless midi dresses in blue and maroon fastened with wide red belts around the waists, short sleeve maroon dresses with blue collars, orange sleeves and with ruffles up on the front, long-sleeved maxi tube dresses with ruffles around wrists, one-shoulder dresses with black and white striped skirts and so on. The white and red striped pattern was also found on long-sleeved zip-up loose and figure fitting pleated dresses with embroidered florals, on wide-sleeved blouses paired with high-waisted blue dresses decorated with prints of flowers and manicured hands, on short miniskirts and so on.
The last part of the show saw more sophisticated but at the same time less colorful pieces: high waisted maxi accordion skirt of a see-through material came paired with a black long sleeve blouse with ruffles on the front, and we also saw a black and light blue rectangle neckline dress, again with flowy accordion skirt, lacy half sleeve shirt paired with skirt patched with black and white and worn underneath a sheer black fabric, another black shirt with white waves combined with a red, black and white knee length skirt.
For accessories, the Italian brand offered handbags and small clutches as colorful as the dresses. The footwear was out of this world as well: chunky platform open and close toe high heels were super cool and just to die for.
What an absolutely eccentric and chic collection. The fans of the stylish and the out-of-the-ordinary must have been pleasantly surprised to discover the Antonio Marras spring/summer 2015 collection!
