Christopher Kane Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – London Fashion Week
You remember those shirts, blouses and dresses with “space” prints, don’t you? Do you know who made them popular? The same man that brought neon colors, T-shirts with 3D animal prints and many other innovations into the fashion world! A Scottish man, called Christopher Kane. Founding his own fashion line in 2006, Kane has achieved a lot in less than 10 years.
The Christopher Kane spring/summer 2015 collection was elegant, in not-too-feminine sense of the word, of course. This time Kane presented to our attention a collection in mostly neutral tones, nothing too dazzling or bright. Maroon was the color prevailing in some of the designs at the beginning of the show. We had maroon leather pants paired with a textured jacket, a skirt in maroon with shimmery touches that was paired with a see through blouse adorned what appeared to be ropelike designs in maroon, white and pale blue (these three look good together, don’t they?). The concept of ropes was also seen in the following dresses as we saw a spaghetti strap pale purple dress with a rope print around the waist.
At the next stage of the show the collection got even more feminine with satin calling the shots, although the color tones stayed almost unchanging. We saw sleeveless knee length maroon satin dresses with rather interesting necklines (later during the show we also saw the short sleeved version of the dress, now in white), a miniskirt of the same fabric and color paired with a matching jacket, a deep V-neck black satin jacket with matching pants, dresses with quite interesting cutouts, somewhat ruffled skirts with see through black blouses, jackets with neck ruffles with matching skirts, pale blue and ivory ruffled dresses and skirts and so on. Kane had also experimented with two seemingly uncombinable fabrics, pairing a mini skirt made of satin with a leather jacket, both in maroon.
At the end of the show the Christopher Kane spring/summer 2015 collection went back to ropelike patterns and we saw a round neckline sleeveless maroon dress with a see through top and ruffled skirt that was adorned with ropelike patterns. Models wearing black lacey dresses were the last ones to walk down the catwalk.
For footwear, the Scottish designer had opted for high heel sandals, each of them matching in color with the outfit they had been paired with. With the exception of several leather handbags complementing the looks, accessories were quite rare.
Let’s be honest, the extravagant and elegant beauty of Kane’s collections has always impressed us and made him one of our favorites. After all, when Donatella Versace herself tells you that she never thought she’s find anybody she could trust like she trusts you, you know you have done something right, something great. Because really, great is a great word to describe Kane and the Christopher Kane spring/summer 2015 collection, why not!
