Rag & Bone Spring/Summer 2015 Collection – New York Fashion Week
When it comes to finding charming women’s clothing with a touch of masculinity, the American fashion label Rag & Bone will always be there to help us in our endeavors (at least we hope so!). The designers of the brand, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville also presented their new Rag & Bone spring/summer 2015 collection to their demanding audience during New York Fashion Week, which has already become an exciting part of our daily routine.
The new Rag & Bone collection, staying true to its roots, is clearly imbued with tomboyish simplicity and elegance. “There’s quite a lot of skin. The girls look beautiful. We want everyone to sit there and think they want to be that girl, which I think they may do,” said David Neville during a backstage interview.
The main colors used by the two designers were indigo, reseda green, black and white. Rag & Bone models took the catwalk wearing pieces designed of indigo-dye cotton fabric. The pieces included oversized jackets reaching just below hips, zipped jackets worn over minimalist shorts, pants combined with sleeveless V-neck coats, hooded cloak looking pieces zipped up halfway through, long black paneled skirts and so on.
From this point in the show, the color palette of the Rag & Bone spring/summer 2015 collection reminded us of a piano keyboard: it was all black, then all white, black and white together, then black again. First we had leathery tops reaching below knees paired with short pants, oversized jackets with oversized pockets, short tops showing off the toned stomachs of the models, paneled skirts that were a mix of black cotton material and leathery fabric and that were paired with classic vests with zippers and all this in black or dark blue.
Onto the next, the white part of the show! Here we had thin strapped maxi dresses made of cotton, see through sheer jackets paired with white pants, long sporty jackets reaching below knees.
Dark pieces included black pants with white thin floral patterns paired with a long V-neck vest, a dress with straps again in the same pattern, a long sleeved mini dress, leathery shorts with long sleeved short jackets with buttons and hooded sporty dresses worn over what appeared to be sweatpants.
But what is tomboyishness without army prints? The print (although in milder color shades) was seen on coats, pants and even bikini looking shorts.
Marcus and David also presented us fashion pieces in a very interesting color, a color known as reseda green, which is actually a lighter shade of the green color. The color had been combined with white and looked utterly amazing: think short silky jackets with zippers had been combined with white dresses, long vests with white high waisted shorts, light green coats with receda silky pants.
The looks were complemented with square shoulder bags made of leather and lariat style necklaces. The footwear featured chunky black and white sandals and black sneakers.
Wholly, the Rag & Bone spring/summer 2015 collection was a strong line of wearable day clothing pieces and accessories that can help one look like a trendsetter in the new season!
