Anna Sui Fall/Winter 2014-2015 Collection ” New York Fashion Week
Cultural inspirations in fashion always lead to striking looks and the latest Anna Sui fall/winter 2014-2015 collection showcased at New York Fashion Week is a great proof of the statement. For fall 2014, Anna Sui looked to China for inspiration, particularly to the famous 1930s Chinese American actress, Anna May Wong from the British musical comedy “Chu Chin Chow’. This gave birth to a super-playful line, filled with bright colors, bold prints and a striking retro feel, which had traces of bohemian notes too. Here China meets Twenties Art Deco and leads to a bold fall wardrobe, filled with colored fur, luxurious metallic accents and rich jewel tones.
Apart from the striking garments, the first thing that caught the eye at the Anna Sui fall presentation was perhaps the models’ makeup, so much reminiscent of Wong’s screen looks. It was a bold duo of dark red lips and glam heavily smoked eye makeup, accompanied by no less impressive retro hair.
The fab inspiration of the Anna Sui fall/winter 2014-2015 collection was reflected first in the chinoiserie, brought to reality through imaginative patterns, colors and shapes. Next, it was the Art Deco notes that flashed out, followed by a high dose of boldness, which describes Anan Sui’s style so well. The show started with rich red and black hues, used for designing the fluffy fur coats, the shiny pants, the boldly striped pant suits and the printed tunic worn over the bell-shaped trousers.
The flamboyant color palette later brought such jewel tones, as emerald green, sapphire blue, purple, brown and some burnt orange touches, accompanied with creams and blacks. Animal prints are also here used for the fur coats in a diversity of lengths and styles. Graphic and nature inspired prints and patterns, some really standout flapper style dresses, embroidered silk pajamas, knitted cardigans, long fringed scarves and tweed jackets perfectly contributed to the uniqueness of the Anna Sui fall/winter 2014-2015 collection.
The looks demonstrated were spiced up with colorful lace-up boots and tasseled necklaces that increased the whimsical allure of the outfits. Everything was made to measure in the Anna Sui fall/winter 2014-2015 collection, although everything did look daring, bright and luxurious!
