Givenchy Spring/Summer 2014 RTW – Paris Fashion Week
Uniqueness can have various faces and the best proof for this is the new Givenchy spring/summer 2014 collection, which has recently fascinated everybody during Paris Fashion Week. Hardly can one imagine a mishmash of native African style with a Japanese one. Still there is one, who can make it live, and that is Riccardo Tisci, who managed to create an absolutely exclusive and second-to-none collection, which consists of chic, femininity, cool looks, a touch of enchanting charm and a great deal of creativity, as well. “I’m not saying leave it, but I want to move on from the print, which is a success. I want to just explore a new world,’ said Tisci about his collection. Well, the words are perfectly put into motion here.
The pieces are mainly based on the techniques of draping, cropping, and folding. The fabrics used for this play vary from very light and weightless types to quite heavy and thick ones. However, Tisci miraculously managed to give a heavenly look to even such massive fabric as leather. The Givenchy show started with an asymmetrical dress, gifted with a great deal of draping, straps used for holding the drapings and for creating interestingly crossing folds. Later came the Japanese influence introduced via specific cuts and silhouettes, still preserving the bald splits on skirts.
One spectacular aspect about the Givenchy spring/summer 2014 collection is the principle of leaving one shoulder naked, while covering the other one by draping and folding techniques, at the same time flexibly changing the fabrics and this time also securing the deep split. The bateau necklines sometimes coming out as a result of draping are really cute and feminine.
Another beautiful silhouette created within this collection is the halter, which actually comes out in very many awesome interpretations. The glittery looks of the garments were created with the help of those cool and colorful sequins put all over the dresses. The supercool one-shoulder jumpsuit resembling outfits were another stunning part of the Givenchy spring/summer 2014 collection. Such were the strapless pieces and the ultra-feminine jersey dresses as well. And just look at those “sequined’ mask-faces! It’s like Wow! So what else can be added here? Creativity we love you!
