Calvin Klein Spring/Summer 2014 RTW ” New York Fashion Week
The Calvin Klein spring/summer 2014 collection isn’t simply one of the most impressive lines unveiled at New York Fashion Week to set the upcoming spring fashion trends: it has a deeper meaning and a more powerful statement ” the 10th anniversary of Francisco Costa as the creative director of Calvin Klein! To celebrate this, the designer didn’t revive his most impressive looks created for the fashion house so far; instead, he looked back to the archives of the fashion house and revived some mainstream styles with sporty vibes, as a result giving birth to an array of sophisticated, minimalist, yet totally bewitching looks that are so modern and noble at the same time!
Costa’s favorite style, minimalism is the core trend seen in the Calvin Klein spring/summer 2014 collection. Pure, perfect and down-to-earth designs with architectural shapes and floating silhouettes flooded the runway at Calvin Klein, followed by street-style looks with sporty vibes and elegant pieces spiced up with some peek-a-boo fringe details that were quite unexpected, yet absolutely desirable! The designer, as always, played with folds and cuffs that came accompanied by sheer panels and opaque touches, snakeskin prints and tweed, fringes and feathers, which never looked overwhelming and inappropriate. Draping, complex cuts, transparency, leather and waist-enhancing bands are other noteworthy details about the new Calvin Klein spring 2014 collection.
The color palette of the Calvin Klein spring/summer 2014 collection was overly mild and reserved with black and white being the key shades used. Still, you could see occasional splashes of coral used to minimum, the way that you couldn’t feel the color-blocking technique applied.
On the whole, Costa included various shapes and trends into his anniversary collection, having been inspired from Pablo Picasso, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Gordon Matta-Clark. Such artistic influences led to languid dresses, tweed jackets, colorful striped coats, pleated midi skirts, oversized blouses with sheer details, pant-and-blouse overalls, as well as breathtaking evening dresses with lots of fringing that closed the show in a remarkable way! What the Calvin Klein spring/summer 2014 collection suggests is that Costa has been the right pick for the fashion house and that the future of the luxury brand is definitely bright!
